Not since Lysenko cult killed millions of Soviet Victims by starvation has a cult pretending to be science been more wrong.
But Lysenko was a well meaning lunatic. While the Climate Cult is an intolerant Commie Sharia tyranny. And they Know They Lie, up at the top of the Scam.
They had a Toyota Electric ( Rav-4 sized ) car parked in the waiting room at my dealer. Looked ok. And I'll bet both people who bought one liked it.
But I've already climbed on the Hybrid wagon so I didn't seriously consider one.
( assume long winded rant on my opinion! )
Apparently Toyota looked at battery cost, range, and giving too much of the profits to a Hostile Dictatorship across a narrow strip of water that openly plans to recreate the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere with God-King Xi as ruler.
For Toyota, it's not just money. The Competition has a deep desire to avenge the last thousand years of wars, using other people's money to finance it. They'd be fools to play along.
And like many not-fools, Toyota management knows that the Greenie push by the E.U. & Biden* regimes are based on lies. It ends with tyranny or revolt.
The test run of Covid-19 murdered millions, while we argued how few were at risk, and the American authoritarian Elite partied while forbidding walks alone in the woods.
I also remember the screams of racism when The Bad Orange Man tried to stop the bioweapon from getting here so quickly by banning travel from China. Which Party was that, again? Oh, yeah.
It wouldn't have done much good, to be fair, the horse was out of the barn and Xi shipped the plague on purpose everywhere before a travel ban was even thought of. Big surge to Africa and Italy. ( Belt & Road, & Immigrant leather workers, respectively )
A total travel ban from Any foreign country would have slowed, but not stopped it. Full unconstitutional interstate travel ban & a closed border, ditto.
While I'm not a professional scientist my education was the engineering track ( aka virgins ) and I've long thought the "Social Sciences" were mostly socialist miseducation fraud. Not entirely, but Any academic "discipline" that deals with humans and their choices is going to be more opinion than experimental data, and it's Not Science if nobody can replicate your results.
In Chemistry, the teacher's opinion of IQ based on hair color has nothing to do with your grade. If the litmus paper turns color really fast, it's not neutral. Don't get it in your eyes. End of story.
But in most of the "humanities" the teacher's opinion is what you parrot or your grades suffer.
See also "Back To School" where the Business Professor hates the Adult Student ( Dangerfield ) who has real world experience in running a business. ( and gets the hot female teacher the pedantic academic wants )
Even before the internet made it easy, the college library had the resources to give references to papers devoid of facts. I used to party with a Poli-sci major who claimed his best fake references were Red Chinese and Rhodesian since no one bothered to check them. And his professors were Useful Idiots, so any paper that led off with worshipful praise of the Professor's view, and cited imaginary papers from a Communist Hell, got automatic A's.
The greatest literary joke on the subject is probably in Heinlein's To Sail Beyond The Sunset, where a character gets her PhD with a thesis that slams the Thesis Committee's beliefs while quoting them in admiring praise, in one of the best lessons on academic manipulation yet.
Imho, the adults who are so uncomfortable with their bodies and social roles that they outwardly attempt to be the Other Sex, are not even close to as mentally ill as the sadistic monsters who have figured out how to get rich torturing children.
That High Suicide rate is real for "trans kids", which is the utterly predictable result of being psychologically manipulated by sexual exploiters and leftist Fundamentally Dishonest self deception Orwellian mind F$%&#.
I haven't seen yet what the problem is with the Helium leaks. Helium is a small molecule and is hard to contain, leaking through the tiniest gap between ... Anything. A bit of grit too small to see with the naked eye in a valve seat is plenty to cause a leak.
To be fair to NASA, after losing 2 Shuttles with all aboard, the bureaucracy is utterly intolerant of failure. Or Blame. And most of the relatively tiny budget goes to CYA paperwork.
A lot of that paperwork is useful. ( maybe 7% of the metric tons attached to each part of the Boeing/NASA capsule, which is still a Lot ) I've dealt with mil-spec paperwork for aerospace parts. It's Purpose is to be able to find, and correct, the source of failures.
A super carrier in the U.S. Navy would sink if you tried to load the paper records of it's construction. That far outweighs the ship. A NASA capsule would be flattened into foil if you piled on it's documentation.
NASA simply doesn't have the budget to flight test it's stuff. The SpaceX approach of build, break, fix, lather, rinse, repeat, is the fast and economical way to improve the product. But that requires a willingness to fail, that the CYA bureaucrats can't tolerate.
That great video bragging about the progress of the booster landing system? With all the explosions? Marketing genius.
