I recommend the "world of tanks" & British Tank Museum videos by "The Chieftain", an American Army Colonel , Armor, former Irish Army. He's coined a few nifty phrases, like "significant emotional event" ( having a tank shoot at you ) https://everpress.com/the-chieftain At over 6' it can be amusing to see him try to fit older vehicles where the max height is 5'5" ... and his "Oh bugger, the tank is on fire" demonstrations of escape from the driver's seat can get a laugh. He's also famously obsessed with track tension tech. Which makes sense since a loose or broken track means high risk repair under fire and brutally hard labor. He's got some interesting videos with a German historian discussing the Invasion of Ukraine and the "end of tanks" muttering among mil-bloggers. Highly recommended. His take on the Merkava is that it's not the best tank. But it's the best tank Israel could build at the time for Israel. Israel has no plans to ever invade Europe, so they don't care about ancient European bridges. The Roman & Summarian local stuff? They have bridging gear. They don't need long range in a country you can cross in a jet in minutes, and many of the design choices are to protect the human top priority, including the back door so the tank can back up to a building or crater under fire and pick up a squad of infantry, or occupants of a house. | ||

Well, at least those tanks were not sunk in a puddle of mud likewise European and American tanks did long before even approaching the frontline. The stupid American and European politics even did not know that they have to build special paved ground for those sensitive machines first before sending them to fight against Russia. The stupidity level of those people is so high they did not even learn the simple history lesson that all those European invaders died in those lands simply sinking in mud, drowning in frozen lakes and freezing to death. Slat armor to protect against shaped charges, either RPG or drone, or tossed from window, is fairly effective and we used it too, retrofit, for urban fighting. Mud sucks no matter the location of the factory making the vehicles. Lots of ruskie tanks bogged down in the mud last few years. Frozen lakes? Alexander Nevsky! It is not about factory, it is about design. The Russian tanks are lighter and have special shaped tracks and also have flat bottom without features can drag on the mud. The bottom portion of the Russian tanks are also more hermetic so the water and mud penetrates slower inside the tank and it allows Russian tanks to float on the mud and water reducing the sinking rate even more. True, but it's ( Russia ) oppressed subjects who fear being brutally murdered, mostly. A legit fear for a century. Gaza has a few million utterly brainwashed thugs of all ages and both sexes. And hundreds of hostages who aren't guilty. Just by the numbers, even with Putin threatening to murder entire civilizations, like the British Isles ( just months ago with nuclear tsunami ) It's a moral problem in that he hides behind millions of hostages. The tragedy of mass destruction may yet strike Russia, again, but few wish it. Gaza, otoh, is full of bad actors, though the polls Hamas makes up are definitely lies. At this point Egypt might start pumping methane into the tunnels if they can coordinate with Israel on the movement of refugees North to central Gaza. ( It would be a two-fer since they can generate Carbon capture credits that way ) Hamas will resist losing it's human shields and accelerate the murder of it's Gazan hostages & blame Israel, to prevent being uncovered. I'd try to bet on that, but no one honest enough to pay off would take the bet. A medium probability is the Saudi Royals may decide nuking Tehran is their only hope of survival. Hoot, it's a legitimate question as to the possibility of freeing a people from a century of utter tyranny. No one alive in Russia remembers before the Soviets. And yeah, they do have the mind set that they need a Strong Man to rule to save them. I point out too many here, too, suffer from than delusion. Note that the Hamas and PLA rulers are by every standard lousy muslims. They exploit the faith.
