Just as Sharia is an all encompassing method of manipulation and control, Jihad is both sword and purse. Get a controlling minority, 10% or better, and you get the social controls crammed down your throat and it's not a slippery slope, it's a crumbling cliff. We've already had massacres at Gay clubs, and when the percentage of Muslims reaches critical mass, expect the next ones to get spun as "deserved it for being offensive". Actually murdering gays and infidels in public executions in front of cheering crowds takes just a few more years, at most. Already neighborhoods and towns in the UK are practicing Sharia with "unofficial" militia/mob enforcement organizations. We're starting to see the Islamist run governments in American towns begin with removing Gay Pride flags and forbidding gender switch agitprop for their kids. A group that depends on out reproducing the corrupt, jaded, infidel, libertines, won't put up with that. The fact most sane folk agree with them on that issue is the perfect wedge to move on to, oh, say, modesty laws. I said over 22 years ago that the biggest mistake Jihadis made was awakening people to their murderous nature, instead of ingratiating themselves with the Conservative Christians by recruiting them as allies to fight moral decay and sexual excess. Seems they caught on. It's a Fatal mistake to go along with that. The dagger for your back is well honed and practiced these last 1200 years. | ||

Hoot, thanks for the video. Pretty simple instructions without excess detail. He did skip a few important pins, one at the front bottom corner of the kilt, and one at the shoulder for the front/back plaid. Usually the bottom one is a simple safety pin just for modesty and to keep breezes from your front delicate bits. The shoulder pins tend to be big bronze medallion types with Celtic knot work or lion faces, etc, more decorative and gaudy. They also gather a bigger wad of cloth than the simple and unobtrusive hem pin which just fastens 2 layers of parallel overlapping material. (Message edited by Aesquire on February 06, 2024) | ||

I use a leather cord to tie it, rather than a pin/broach. does not damage the material. But mostly i wear it down. Too warm during the day to have it over my shoulder. And at night it is cold so I wear it over my head walking back to camp. | ||

One of my favorite period clothing factoids is from the Brendan Expedition, a group recreating the trans Atlantic voyage of Irish monks to the New World by skin boat. Yes, there's difference of opinion on if the monks actually made the voyage, so this group decided to see IF it could be done. ( see also Kon Tiki & Ra voyages ) They did research on the "skinny sticks covered in leather" boats used, still, today, by fishermen in Ireland, and some art/drawings of the larger boats ( no longer made ) used by Reavers to raid across the Irish Sea to the bigger island to the East. They wore period wool robes, etc. But also brought military pilot cold water survival suits and gear, satellite radio, all the modern equipment you'd take on an oceanic row boat trip. By the time they hit the beach in Canada, everything modern, except film in waterproof boxes, was trashed. One guy insisted on wearing the high tech gear, got wet, hypothermic, and they had to hold him down to strip him and wrap him in wool, as he was convinced that they were trying to kill him. Hypothermia can mess you up! He recovered, ok. I haven't read the Marco Polo path by motorcycle book, but I'm looking now. Check out Rob Roy. Lots of kilt action, from wearing them as sleeping bags to the great standing stones scene. It's a more accurate film, historically, than Braveheart, but was overshadowed by the big action movie. Both fun.
