Olddog, I don't think Linebacker II is possible with just fighter bombers. Although a rolling Arclight strike down the strip seems the quick way. It's pretty much my first impulse to terrorists. Smarter would be to arrest Hamas leaders in Qatar, Take away the oil income from the Mullahs, and cruise missiles on the Iranian "guard", the domestic thugs that keep the Mullahs in power with arrests, rape and murder. Plenty of folk in the region would support a revolt in Iran. And slam Hezbollah and PA targets while quietly pumping the Mediterranean into the tunnels under Gaza. Pull out the supports. Far too many conflicts in my lifetime were screwed up because the Enemy hid over a border. Vietnam, the Iraqi Restoration after the brilliant blitz victory over a larger Army, Afghanistan, Mexico... In Lebanon, the best play is to get Hezbollah revolted against by the locals. Make it popular to watch for the rockets being set up and calling to evacuate the area while calling in artillery on Hezbollah. ( having your ammo chemical pile trash a big area in the Capital when it detonated from neglect didn't improve the popularity ) Rolling fast through Gaza can wait until the right moment to catch the rats, blocking the escape routes. My guess is a quick strike through the less populated areas West of the City, to divide and trap. True, flooding the tunnels under Gaza with sea water won't improve the infrastructure, but Israel doesn't want to take territory. They want to eliminate the rapists. | ||

Correction. Israel does not tell that they want to take the territory. There is a difference. Only they know what they want, but they can tell you anything, they tell you only what they want to tell you. So it does not matter what they really want and what they tell you. I'll admit that some extremist groups reportedly did take up arms to defend Ukraine. but I suspect when fighting for your existential rights, your'e probably less likely to question the motives of the person in the trench next to you. | ||

I feel sympathy for the Judeans trapped in Gaza like I have sympathy for the Germans of 1939. It's not going to end well. I've already discussed the "voted for the Nazis" issue, and just point out I don't want to take the blame for Joe's* foreign screwup anymore than some Germans deserved it. So, yep, I call for Joe* to retire peacefully voluntarily, before he gets more people killed and women raped and abused. The best thing for the Judean/Palestinian hostages of Hamas and the Germans of 1939 would be if their rulers were purged from power and prevented from taking revenge, aka bury their ashes in a crossroad in unmarked graves. Both populations have ample examples of how utterly evil their rulers are and while it's too late for the 1939 oppressed, today's Gazans have a miniscule chance of freeing themselves from their tyrant scum. If they had the incredible courage to dare. Some will, and unfortunately our leftist media probably won't report on that. | ||
