Not sure I really like the design. I mean it's better than other Electric Motorcycles I've seen, I'm just not a huge fan of Electric Motorcycles in general.
Did you see how much storage was available in the area normally reserved for an engine and fuel tank??? For commuter duty it really doesn't need bags and it isn't really designed with weekend camping trips in mind. Not having bags makes it narrower and easier to split lanes not that I'd (cough cough) do things like that where it wasn't legal...
Sleek, roughly the same top speed as my '73 GT380... Which is fine, since I never need to go much over 80 even in West Virginia.
Sub 3 second to 60! That's fast!
I'd need to throw a leg over and sit to see if I Want one. ( that's what sold me on my Cyclone. It Just Fit. ) But I'm good on looks and even the small battery is enough for my typical ride. Curious what actually I'd get @ 60-65 cruising.
There's many kinds of speed. Top speed against wind drag is a seldom used... By Me, metric. I usually take one or two runs up to redline per year, just to "check my tune", but haven't in 2022, yet. ( and the falling snow indicates I might not )
0-60 is a pretty good speed metric.
Best I've seen in a magazine is 0-100-0.
My standard for a motorcycle is that I want it to take me plus passenger to 100 without straining. That comes from the mythical British Cafe scene and "the ton". If it has that much power, it's enough. Buttercup does that, effortlessly.
So, technically, the Fllow is "inadequate" , but obviously my standard is 3/4 century out of date, and I haven't adrenelized a lady in a few years. And she proceeded to go buy her own Honda shortly after, so call that a win.
But I still have my Cyclone, Buttercup. I'm not quite done with two wheels.
Good point, it was not built for long weekend trips. And the narrower the better for splitting lanes for sure, but I'm a luggage . I's got stuff lol!
I'd need to see one in person BUT based on what that article at thepack.news claims, it sounds like there's more than enough capacity for shopping trips too! I use my Yamaha XMAX for occasional trips to CostCo and most of the time the available underseat storage is all I need. It sounds like the Fllow has even more capacity than that.
Super stoked to get an update — I got an email on Wednesday before all the PR releases, and as a paid reservation holder from way back in 2019, the “discount” is even more at $2500 or and a free helmet… Kinda disappointed on the 80 mph top speed… I KNOW from several test rides on the Livewire that it stops working at 112-114mph… let’s hope they get the 3000 paid presale reservations so it DOES get built….
True enough. He has more than earned the right to retire and enjoy his grandkids, art, and other hobbies. I thank him for his great contributions to the motorcycle world, and wish him the very best in his retirement years.
It'll run without a cell phone but some of the features will not be available without one. For example, I can update the characteristics of the drive mode on my Zero with a cellphone; can't be done without one. I can also pull the motor logs and E-Mail them directly to Zero and update the firmware. Without a phone those last two items would require a trip to the dealer. I can still ride the bike just fine without a cellphone though.
I'd suggest you'd need a cellphone anyway because having an app that can tell you where the closest charging station is can be VERY useful. They're not (yet) on every other street corner like a gas station. Most of the charging stations I've visited require a cellphone to activate the charging via an app as well.
who’s got Erik’s phone number to ACTUALLY FIND OUT? Little help from Court?
I’m going to say that ALL the website stories about the “ERIK BUELLS ALL NEW FLLOW” are just cut and paste from the PR department with a bit of add/subtract WITHOUT doing ANY research…. I’m waiting for one of these “writers” to F-up and mix the new BUELL and the FUELL companies… “all new electric hillclimb motorcycle”
