Which to choose. Seeking dominant, strong willed, independent, energetic, fun loving, sociable male... Godfrey the Crusader (Cru) Rudy Named after the legendary crusader knight, Godfrey of Bouillon. Note the cross on his face.
The future is bright.
Should have him to his new home by the weekend. (Message edited by blake on July 13, 2022) |

First I've hear of this breed. After reading their "specs"; they sound like the Swiss Army knife of dogs. Only ominous mention was that they need a job otherwise some may become destructive... |

Thanks guys. We adopted him last Friday morning. Teeps, that is more accurate than most could fathom. Super high energy and intelligent. He’s ten weeks old yesterday, and when not sleeping or eating or pooping or peeing, he alternates between snuggle-puppy and “I must break you” modes. Training is going well though. He’s not the runt but was actually on the smaller side of his litter. Somehow though he achieved a fair level of dominance. We visited at the farm where he was bred for a couple hours to get a feel for personality. This was the first litter for his mom and for the new to the scene Halo Farms Catahoulas, awesome nice folks there, absolutely top quality operation just getting started. Following are some of the random photos Michele snapped at the farm when they released all the pups. See what you think. |

Gave him his first claws clipping. He’s got rear dew claws. Darrell had those too. Weird. |

Catahoulas make great dogs...if you know the pig-in-the-poke you're buying. Smart as a whip, loyal, protective (can be an issue depending on family structure), quick learner, playful and VERY energetic. Issues that need to be addressed with rigorous and consistent training--ACROSS THE FAMILY PACK--are bullheaded, strong-willed, mouthy, can be biters if allowed to start. You must always make sure that you and your family are the alphas, not the dog! Not necessary for physical corrections because of their intelligence, but a firm, consistent and constant rule setting are critical for successful adoption. Got Mia as a rescue at about 2 1/2 yo. She'd been thru a high kill shelter in TN, a rescue org in OH and 2 different owners previously. Great dog and so fun to have around but even after almost 3 years, she's still very much a work in progress!
