Ur was a big city by 5800 years ago, according to records from 4600 years ago, and some Indian records are considered older, but mostly everything past 6000 years ago was only passed down by oral stories. 20000 years before that? The stories don't seem to have survived. Or much in the way of ruins to study. Cave paintings that age, alas don't seem to have a lot of information, though I sometimes wonder if they might be interpreted differently if viewed with an eye towards looking for planetary scale disasters. There's Indian stories about battles of the gods where millions of people died, which has interpretations in fiction as extraterrestrials fighting with energy and atomic weapons, or civilization ending cosmic events. Having a volcano erupt you could hear across oceans & Then rains of muddy ash, killing all your crops might get described as gods fighting, eh? So might a cometary strike. Archaeologists 20,000 years from now may list our time as the "glass rectangle" people, but probably think It is a religious thing. ( As they are prone to do about not understood stuff today ) Pretty sure your IPod collection Contents won't be found. Pity, I imagine some future scientists arguing over Metal ages and instead of "bronze" & "iron" be writing about Thrash and Scandinavian. 99.9% isn't a believable Lie. 70% is a much easier lie. It's that simple. Over the last 45 years, since the Climate Con began with hysteria over the Onrushing Ice Age, I've been studying the science & watching the politics. That's not exaggerating, I was taking Meteorology 102 when the 1977 headlines announced the New Green KGB Plot, though, of course, that wasn't the accepted label. The mask came off years ago when the head of the U.N. Climate panel openly stated it wasn't about science but about political & economic power. Period. My views have evolved, based on actual science, and actual Actions. In 1977 every current Action, plus one now ignored, was formulated and Decreed, as the Purpose that the Elite Must Take to save the world, aka, take Permanent Power. 1. End fossil fuels. 2. Tax you. Abolish private property. 3. Establish an unelected Elite to rule the world over all national interests. 4. Build up food stocks for the upcoming Climate Caused Famine. You'll notice that the preparation for famine is gone, without trace. It's too easy to detect the theft of funds if there was supposed to be warehouses full of food, and they were missing. As to the Onrushing Ice Age... a possibility that is a realistic concern, as there is ample historical examples of "mini ice ages" ( that didn't look so small to the starving peasants ) that wiped out crops and led to famines & the associated plagues you get with widespread malnutrition. We have multiple examples of volcanic eruptions causing years without summer. That's not counting the mega disasters of eruptions like Thera. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoan_eruption Meteor/comet strikes in human history are less well documented at causing widespread Climate change. The Tunguska, and Mississippi air bursts took out carbon and a civilization, respectively, but I haven't seen them connected to mini ice ages or massive crop failures ( research ongoing ) across the planet. Though that's no consolation to the Native American tribes wiped out in the fireball. What stands out to me, is there has never been the kind of Climate Event Prophesied by the Prophet Gore or Saint Greta. I can't find one example. But there are too many of the opposite events to count. And SOMETHING, probably very Cosmic, millions of years ago, utterly changed the planet's Climate from a stable warm one, to episodic Ice Apocalypse, and we have been recovering from the last one for lots of thousands of years. Let us pray Tomorrow, May 9, ( the Soviet version of VE-day ) doesn't offer us a chance to disprove Nuclear Winter | ||

Yep. The "onrushing ice age" is the 1977 simplified for hysteria creation version of a complex system that us peasants aren't expected, or desired, to know. While I often refer to the recent warm periods of about 1000 & 2000 years ago, as desirable "normal", both are, as you say, in this interglacial period. It's not PC to even admit there was a universe before this Ice Age. ( as far as Climate discussions are concerned ) | ||

OTOH, I think a Mayor of a major city Should have an Environmental Policy. Doesn't have to be detailed or complex.
