Mnscrounger: I think that's a highjack, yep. Let's not encourage it!! It was good to see the folks I saw, going for quality versus quantity, as usual! Two Seasons and Doris, Canario, Cool Ice, Kim and Jason were great company! I think Canario could have had better luck, but I'll let him elaborate!! Made it to Elkhart Lake for racing. Anybody going needs to chime in for possible meet-ups. |

It was great making it to East Troy another year for Homecoming!! The X1 was so excited to go back... like a salmon from the ocean up the river. I think l heard the engine blip when we passed Buell Drive! Look, I was born there! Balanced engine, not at idle, but above 3k rpm. What a sweet ride. Rt 12 and rt 120 are so much fun in this bike. Seeing again my Buell friends at Gus! It is great to be part of this group. A bike designed with racing roots, ergonomics, style, engineering... do you like more the most popular or the best in class?

FWIW, I'll be in the paddock along the road to the Sargento bridge thru Saturday. |

And here is the drive back report from Homecoming at East Troy to Chicago suburbs... Dusk to dark, this X1 lights the road. Rt 120 becomes rt 12. Oh, it is a lightning! Is that where the name came from?? The bike is on cam. At 3k rpm. At the edge of power burst if required, vs no vibration at all. You can tell the mirrors work. Pegs feel like the ground. Solid. Nice to be controlling the beast. What an enjoyment. Delightful to ride it. VROOOOOMMMM here l go South. It got a bit cold and l have a vented BUELL leather jacket l got in Europe (Furygan?) so l choose to lay on the gas tank, feet move to the rear pegs. Wow this bike is so comfortable. BLIP, here it goes again... hmmm... this time the headlight dims for half a second... hmmm the bulb? Went a bit yellow and back to bright. Bike did not backfire but seemed it went out of gas... but there is gas... sudden battery drop? Fuel filter? The famous ground? A huge Wisconsin flying bug? Ha! It is fine. Just a temperamental bike. And crossed into IL at Richmond. Nice town. 5 min and back into a solitary road south. BLIP. Engine drops rpms. No throttle response. Light dims. Stalls. Mike Oldfield moment 5 Miles Out. How big was that bug? Ha, look. My luck, coasting downhill and there is a light post. Business is closed. But there is a drive off the road and with light. I can get there. Hmm it starts but dies. Throttle feels softer. Stop. Out the bike. Ok. Off the road. Good. Light. So the previous owner used synthetic mobil 1 and the molybdenum reacted with the copper of the stator, and shorted it... l read about it long time ago, but might not be my case now... after several thoughts my best decision was to give a call to Steve... l was just with him... but how do l have him in my phone?? Two Seasons, of course. Ha! Well him quickly analyzed the situation and coordinated for Dennis to come rescue me. Saved. All perfect. Great folks. The BUELL family. I got towed all the way home! Thank you again! What do you think was the failure? None of the above. Not the cable or the locknut that holds the throttle plate. Not electrical... The butterfly shaft broke! :-) |

Great weather here at Road America today! Great turn out with fans & bikes everywhere! Baggers are breaking down left & right, but that's why I am on the "pick up" crew this year. Loaded 4 Baggers up today alone. No sportbike so far today.... Barns lost an engine yesterday & oiled the Carousel good! Races start soon. |

Anybody going to be at Road America tomorrow/Sunday? Looks like it might get wet, but I'm free to meet up. There were a couple of S3s in the bike show, but the owner(s) weren't around when I slid by. |
