This morning at the Anytime Fitness that I go to (in Virginia), there was a guy in his 20's wearing a mask. He looked fit and was working hard. It is a mystery why someone in the almost risk-free demographic would still wear a mask when our Gov. Blackface decreed we didn't have to sometime Fall 2020 (I think). I see school kids walking home with masks and really feel sorry for them. You wonder if they ask their parents why old people don't wear them and kids are required. And what the parents say. | ||

The ironic part, to me, is that buses and planes are among the few places I recommend masking up. And Emergency Room waiting areas. All 3 have lousy air management and crowded conditions with a high percentage of likely infectious sick people. And that doesn't figure Covid-Fauci-Wuhan biowar lab variants, at all. Just the other billions of deadly germs and flesh eating bacteria at hospitals. I'm against the mandates. I have a close friend who wouldn't travel by air etc. As long as the face diapers are required. He's already had Covid. ( probably the Alpha in the first month, he & his school bus driver wife, before tests or the Panicdemic Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste, ( and fake one if there isn't any ) ) and definitely Delta some few months ago. He's safer than I am, with my short lived semi failed/useful experimental dangerous shots. His attitude is based on both rational risk assessment and a thoroughly torqued off at tyrants emotional response. I don't disagree. The systematic Elitist, "the peasants must Obey, but not Me" examples of politicians from the Tyrant Governors at maskless fundraisers ( but the servant class must hide their worthless faces from the demigods of the Big Donor class ) and Celebrity self aggrandizement shows, ( my face must be seen! But not that nobody who opens my limo door at the red carpet ) were plenty for most people to Notice the double standard. I think the nail in the coffin, however, was Kamala and Stacy posing in arranged photo shoots with masked peasant children. Especially since "I won't concede I lost, but Trump peons are terrorists for questioning the perfection of Democratic Party Victory!" Stacy is a prime example of visibly being at high risk from poor lifestyle choices. I will repeat I don't accept falsehoods, & am bipartisan on that. I keep hearing pundits claim airliners have filtered air & are safe. Bull. The one long crowded flying bus tube crammed with people so close you feel their body heat & odor, flows a limited supply of lightly filtered air from front to back ( plus the pipes that feed the overhead vents ) & out the ceiling in the far rear of the cabin. ( out 2 separate pressure relief valves, so if one fails the cabin won't rip open like an overinflated balloon. ) The outside air at 30,000 feet is as clean as you'll find on the planet, except down wind of an active volcano or New Jersey.  It just has a filter to keep bird guts from spraying everyone & clogging the uncleanable air pipes buried in the wings and fuselage ( that hasn't been seen on the inside since the engines were installed on the assembly line ) fed from the bleed air duct on the compressor stage of the turbofans. Once inside, cabin air flows slowly past every pneumococcal cougher, tuberculosis mary, and respiratory virus shedding jet setter who may have just made his connecting flight from the plague zone you'll read about next week. If you wear a powered filter biohazard moon suit you're fairly safe. Otherwise you're counting on your immune system and that Crystal your crazy niece insisted you wear to ward off malignant spirits. Oh, and a paper mask might help keep the spray from the screaming baby from going directly into your mouth. Myself, I plan to wear a mask just to mess with facial recognition software.  | ||

Remind me to tell you... On my way to a hang glider meet, I had one piece of carry on luggage that led to a show & tell session in the security line. I was borrowing a glider from the factory team so I tossed spare clothing in a small garbage bag into my pod harness with my Bell Helmet and variometer/altimeter, that all folded into one zippered carry bag. Imagine explaining the built in reserve parachute to TSA. They were actually more freaked out by the Vario. A 5" aluminum box with a big dial marked with plus & minus numbers, exposed 9 volt battery and mystery switches, that makes weird beeping, warbling noises as you move it. ( And especially if you lower it quickly, and the sink alarm sounds like the Enterprise crashing into a black hole ) That and the parachutist hook knife to free yourself from tangled lines in it's external scabbard on the harness next to the Big Red Handle. they thought I was D.B. Cooper returned. It didn't help I knew who that was, and knew how the external ramp lock worked on the 727. | ||

Not exactly. I bet it's fairly positive proof that being conquered by Commies in the last century is bad for you, though. So don't allow that. Just like studies in Japan show little to zero change in flu deaths with mask wearing, there is little effect on airborne viruses, as many others here have pointed out for 2+ years. There is some evidence of SLOWING the spread, and some good against sneeze and cough droplet spread. I will point out that a total lockdown, no one allowed out of their rooms, will absolutely slow the spread of disease. But not have any effect on deaths from the disease over time once people run around and live normal lives. We have less proof on how many days isolation it takes to increase deaths in a population from suicide, untreated illness, and other factors. A week or even 3 might have insignificant effect. Months shows strong positive correlation. I haven't done the math, since there's 100% chance the available numbers are faked. Gigo. There's strong evidence that having mayors and governors in one party gives you a big increase in risk of being murdered. Nigh absolute proof that having above a certain percentage of 2 ( different ) religious faiths in your country gives you a big increase in being murdered, and the same for dying of pollution and starvation. There's even strong correlation between dying of any infectious disease & religious intolerance. And finally, the "2 seems to flatten the curve" actually worked over 2 years ago. The curve was flattened. The total numbers over time however, from Covid, seem unchanged, as you'd expect. Longer isolation just kills more people from other causes. The effects from psychological damage will take longer to quantify. It's very hard to separate from the short term effects of tyrants outright killing people. One son and our daughter (in their 30's and on opposite sides of the country) got Covid this year. Son mostly just felt lousy for a week and Daughter has more symptoms, but is feeling better. Several of our 70+ YO friends have had it with minimal time in bed. That, plus the statistics on co-morbidities and survival rates, would lead an optimist to say, "Gee, the cherry-picked horrible hospital scenes on the TV notwithstanding, maybe there really isn't too much real danger now?" | ||

I was hospitalized for 10 days and it took a couple of months before I was back to normal. A friend was in the ICU and hospitalized for almost a month. The disease is real. However, the Media, corrupt politicians and their puppet masters are playing it for all it's worth. | ||

It is real. Viruses have been real since before our species came along. 99.8% recovery rate without medication, is also real. If you're sick, you're sick. You feel like shit. It's in the definition of "sick". And, 99.8% recover from feeling like shit, just fine. With no medication, no mandated (completely ineffective) jab, just vitamins and a millenia-old immune system. |
