I painted my tail box with black “bumper paint”, which seems to work pretty well. It’s intended for plastic bumpers so it adheres well, and gives a satin finish that’s pretty close to what the bag looked like originally. I’ve seen something else that may work. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos by a guy who restores old Tonka toys. The rigid plastic tires on these get grayish looking after years of use. Apparently what happens is the plastic abrades and oxidizes, forming nearly microscopic “fuzz” on the surface of the plastic. This guy takes a hot air gun and blows it on the surface of the plastic. This melts the fuzz and makes the plastic look new again. I think it’d be worth trying. |
