Makes sense. They ( the Party Media) stopped counting the dead in Afghanistan & Iraq when Barry took over and killed more American troops with his policies. The constant death number at the side of the screen of those who died & tested positive for Fauci-19 stopped the instant Joe* Occupation began. Now they can erase the past more efficiently. I expect the Holocaust museum to be permanently closed to the public by spring, all mention of Jewish artists has already been erased at the Academy of Woke Motion Pictures museum. I keep hearing people angrily tell me the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the National Socialist Worker's Party were Socialist in name only. Nothing at all like today's politicians sponsored by an Actual Nazi. ( who also doesn't exist, or have anything to do with anything, despite being officially Obama's partner ) One of my favorite hobbies/fanaticism is aircraft design. In the late 30s, Bell Aircraft designed and built the P-39 Airacobra. It was used extensively in the Pacific for ground attack, and was a great Messerschmitt killer in Soviet service, we gave them a LOT of them. One Soviet Ace was nearly erased from history and life for praising the Airacobra that he used to shoot down a Lot of German bombers and fighters, since Stalin didn't like to give Any credit to the Americans for the megatons of air sent to him by the Allies. Mostly in Convoys under heavy attack in Arctic waters by German aircraft and battleships. Many lives and tremendous fortune given were publicly ignored and erased by the Socialists. Deja vu. Off-topic Airplane rant begins. ( feel free to ignore ) Most planes used in WW2 were designed before the 1940 Battle of Britain. The painful lessons learned included the need for self sealing fuel tanks, ( to keep from burning out of the sky ) armor for the pilots and oil tanks, ( to keep from burning out of the sky, with dead pilots ) and better fire power, since the .30 caliber machine guns didn't do enough damage, fast enough, to effectively shoot down airplanes bombing your cities. ( modern metal planes were tougher than wood and fabric WW1 stuff ) In the 30s, the Bell Airacobra was designed to the basically same criteria as the soon to be famous Bf-109. The biggest, most powerful engine, in the lightest, smallest, lowest drag airframe, AND a couple of machine guns in the nose. ( .30/8mm rifle caliber initially, later heavy .50 types ) Plus a Cannon throwing explosive shells to knock down bombers! Both suffered when armor and self sealing fuel tanks were added, basically like carrying 2 extra crew's weight. Both went through multiple versions, the Bf-109 up through G, the P-39 through Q! ( the Americans gave new letters to variations the Germans just gave letter/number names to, like G6 ) Every pre-Battle of Britain plane suffered from extra weight, with the notable exception of the P-47 Thunderbolt who's designer saw the needs ahead of the Air Corps, AND had to make room for the massive ducting, intercoolers, and Turbocharger he needed to make the most powerful high altitude fighter of the day. ( with it's rival, the P-38 having 2 engines, turbos, etc. to match it almost ) IF, the Allison company had been allowed to develop it's 2 stage supercharger earlier, ( they were ordered to not bother, and just make more engines faster ) AND Bell had been allowed to upsize the wings and given the later 2 stage Allison OR the 2 stage Rolls Royce Merlin, ( that made the P-51 a classic ) THEN the Bell P-63 King Cobra might have been a fierce competitor at sweeping the skies on the Western Front and Pacific of enemy planes, but instead, delayed, rejected, and near forgotten, it did Exactly That along with it's Airacobra parent on the Eastern Front, against the best pilots and most modern aircraft Germany made. It was a significant factor in Winning WW2, despite the obstacles bureaucracy & timing threw in it's path, and deserves far more credit. End rant, have a nice day. | ||

Not armor, but a pretty solidly built sheet metal box structure. Airplane rant On!... There's a few parallels with the Airacobra & Corsair. Things that got changed after the prototype to make the Navy and Air Corps happier, that caused issues never resolved or fixed years later. The Corsair had both wing mounted internal fuel tanks, and a wee bomb bay in each outer wing, to drop mini bombs on bombers. ( several planes of the era had that, & it didn't work so they dropped it. ) Plus the classic guns shooting past the propeller with interrupter gear, so you don't shoot your own prop. Many aces preferred the guns centered up, as wing mounted guns had to be angled in a bit to converge at a predetermined range. That prevented a "perfect shot" from missing in both sides of the enemy planes, but also gave you one, near perfect range, and sprayed the bullets in an ever increasing fan past that. The Navy wanted more firepower and range. The complex and heavy built wing center section didn't have room for landing gear & air ducts for oil coolers/intercooler/ram air to the engine, AND a fuel tank. The outer wing panels got 3 .50 cal heavy machine guns, & ammo, so no room for fuel there. So Vought moved the cockpit back and put a big tank between the pilot and engine. This made the nose really long and hurt visibility for landing & shooting. The Brits learned to land in a curve, since you can't see the Carrier past the nose. The shooting issue, with the enemy plane vanishing behind the nose, was compensated for by using speed and energy tactics. Hit & run, don't get into turning contests. The Airacobra was intended to use a Turbocharger. But they weren't ready, yet. The NACA did wind tunnel testing, and found it was faster without the scoop & turbo, so it was abandoned, and like the P-40, was great down low, but lost steam much over 2 miles up. ( this wasn't Bell or Allison's fault, it was choices of the Air Corps ) So the Airacobra was stuck with an altitude limited engine, and pressure to just build more faster prevented fixing the higher than anticipated wing loading, until the P-63 came along late in the war. The Soviets, given the "second rate" plane, discovered it was highly nimble, fast, and actually better than the Messerschmitts down where they fighting. There are a few memoir books recently published if you're interested, they didn't come out until the Soviet Union collapsed and the Russians finally got some freedom. Airplane rant off!!.. Btw, it's day 3 of probable Omicron. I won't know until I get the ambition to plow my way out of my snowed in house. I'm really curious how the Rav4 does, but haven't removed the 2-3 feet of snow on top, yet. But night sweats Monday, lack of appetite, headaches, mild cough, and a general $%&# the world attitude could be a really mild cold ( I mean, unusually mild, except for the unusual headache ) or old age, or side effects from the Pfizer booster. Seriously, if I had these symptoms at work pre-panicdemic, they'd be at most a one day session of calling in sick and taking a long steam while catching up on my reading. I'm way behind on computer case design trends. Absolutely don't take my resistance or denial of illness as typical. Haven't been tested, and have a long history of stubborn rejection of weakness in cold season. And local weather went from hovering between low 40s ( f ) & freezing, to single digits and "stay home so emergency crews can get through", so it could just be depression. Well, I don't recommend a 4th, 5th etc. Shot of the Spike Protein vaccine. I got the booster #3 because I'm involved in caring for elder folk, and had no noticeable reaction to the first 2, but I'm not going for #4+ since the risk isn't worth the benefits. I only recommend the Spike Protein vaccines for high risk people, diabetic, heart disease, COPD, and older than 50+. Looks like a bad idea for younger. More and more. I'm very open about understanding that there are NO ZERO RISK options. If anyone tries to sell you that lie, reject their advice. It may indeed be true that the partial protection from the mRNA vaccines might reduce your chance of serious illness, WHEN you catch Omicron. But it's too early to tell for sure. ( I might be an example! Dunno. ) I'm very curious if the Alpha & Delta strains are still circulating, and where! Those are proven, in old folk, to be worse than the annual flu. Omicron? We'll see. So far it looks like initial reports of "basically a bad cold" are true. Which also means that people WILL die from it. People die from flu. Don't Panic. Bring a towel. My current mild illness is far less a thing than friends, a couple who got sick last month. That one was a "you don't want this" tested positive case of SARS-COV2, not sure of strain. So? ( that covers 90+% of my attitudes towards health and sex ) Here's the Bad Side of this trend in authoritarian rule. It's like helmet laws. Screw personal responsibility, we are told, riding without a lid means "society" has to pay for your mistakes! That longer hospital stay has to get paid for and everyone's insurance bill goes up to cover it. Sure, there's a logic there. But there are two hard, nasty, facts the Authoritarian Busybody types never mention. Every time they pass a seatbelt, helmet, or forcefield law, ( give them time! ) you are promised lower insurance rates in exchange for the restrictions. That never happened in my life. It's a lie. In states without helmet laws, there is a better, fresher, supply of replacement parts. Young fools with brain damage usually have pretty good livers, hearts and lungs, etc. for us older folk that ruined ours. People get squeamish about that, but it's entirely possible that helmet laws kill more people over time. So... Too special a group for a good general argument? Fair. How about? If a hysterectomy is mandatory at age 10, that would save billions in health care. No more unwanted pregnancies. No abortions. No more ovarian and uterine cancers. Much less prenatal and other health costs. People who wanted a child would simply pay for a visa for a surrogate, offering a path to citizenship, and that also solves overpopulation. Win win. Plus, since sex is no longer a sacred bond to create and raise children. Like the Feminist Canadian writer's lefty paranoid handmaid style, there would be no downsides for rich & powerful men to have harems, harem subscription services, trade ins, all the pleasure and none of the responsibility. YOU'RE disappointed? I lost all bragging rights with my Brother in law since I didn't have the newer mutation! Plus I don't have the "organic free range" immunity, instead of the short lived artificial. Not a joke. The vaccines apparently don't have you generate the mucus membrane attack cells as well, since they bypass your nose/throat. Seriously, if that HAD been the Omicron, it would have been worth the next couple of days of staying away from folk. I've had worse colds. That ABSOLUTELY doesn't mean you want to get sick to get immune, because everybody is different. You might die, and your wife just get a mild flu-like weekend. Or worse, vice versa! I recently tested negative. I went into the ER because of heart pain. They ran the typical heart related tests. Then a lady comes in to do a COVID-19 test. I told her I had no covid symptoms; no temp, no breathing problems, no diarrhea, ect. She told me I was having chest pain and chest pain was a symptom. So..... I got the swab from hell. Fun times. |
