I just happened to be visiting a neighbor who had her TV on, local CBS channel. I didn't even know... walked in as his son was delivering his eulogy. Whoa. I had to sit.

A great, great man. Rest in peace, sir.

Bump.

I guess I was the only one who noticed.

I very much respected General and Secretary Powell, even late in his career when his reputation was dishonestly tarnished by politicians who didn't deserve to breath the same air.

His "Powell Doctrine" was mostly a modern restating of the best principles of the Jacksonian branch of American political theory. I considered it highly moral and practical, as well as a vital cautionary advice, well proven over millennia.

His late life political/media career I was less thrilled with, but I suspect that future biographies might better inform us of his circumstances. Or simply, I may have been misled by the known lying sacks at CNN & Congress.

Thanks Patrick for saying... even with the rosy red tinted words of kindness. I always, always thought he was a great man, just like the late Senator John McCain.

I will always think kindly of both men, and speak well of them both after their passing. I hope to someday watch the funeral services for both someday, in their entirety.

I don't have to agree to respect.

A local right wing radio pundit once did almost an hour praising a Congresscritter ( might have been State legislator ) he near daily disagreed with. In response to a listener's comments. Despite being on opposite of most issues, the radio guy said the Pol worked hard to get the local/state area he REPRESENTED it's fair share ( Or better ) of funding and perks/contracts. Quite gracious in his praise and lack of sarcasm. Ten minutes later, or the next day, the radio guy might bellow about their ideological differences, but he insisted that truth should be first over opinion. ( an ideal few can sustain, but worthy of attempting )

Sojourner Truth, indeed. YMMV, as will anyone's opinion. I smell bull$hite in both parties... we may argue as to who $$hit the bed more than another.

When one speaks ill of the dead... yeah, that's a no go for me. Not to mention grabbing a woman's unmentionables, because she "likes" it.

We would benefit, as a nation, from less dipshittedness in general. Having two parties in deadlock no shittes given to one another is a bad recipe that no one cares to taste.
I miss Ross Perot.

Well... Greg, I do kinda miss whassizname that begat Dittoheads. Hate that he got cancer or something, he was a good talking head for the work he did. If, IF we could get to a Fountainhead of Fkin actual politicians who won't swing their junt or $shite at one another, maybe we could restore our Democracy around here.

Sorry. Getting ready for Monday. Been riding this weekend though. : )
