Leaving tuesday morning for another week on the road, this time with a buddy from work, ultimate destination is 4 day rock fest in VA. Lots of camping, drinking and curvy roads in between. Should be gone 8 days and tack on another 3500ish miles onto the bike.

Yeah I was pretty surprised about the number of good bands attending when we stumbled across it, very little advertising that I know of has been done outside of the immediate area its taking place in. Sold out in a couple weeks, and from what I've read, there's only about 35000 people attending. Not many considering that about 50 of those bands could be headlining their own show somewhere. There's a good 6 or 7 bands a day i'm really looking forward to seeing. |

MerleFest is going on too!! DANG but I'd love to make THAT one. I loves me some live music!! Got to see Motorhead at a Cherokee Survivors bike rally one year... EPIC. Rode over on my '77 shovel with two buddies... one also on a nicer shovelhead, his brother on a cool old ironhead. Of course we all had mechanical issues... but all made it home. |

Bikes that old, you’re bound to have issues. Wrenching on old bikes is part of the road trip experience. |

Yeah... my buddie's shovel got stuck in 3rd, for the whole trip across the mountain. The ironhead had some electrical issues. My bike developed a gas tank seam leak while it was sitting on site, with everyone walking around smoking various things, including cigarettes. Also, my voltage regulator mount vibrated itself off the bike, had to have one fabricated there. What a trip! Oh and Lemmy was great- I had earplugs in, of course. I actually wrote a monthly biker magazine article about that trip, which happened late in 2009. Fun times!!! |
