I talked to my friend the other day about scripture, preaching, and minding your own business. I am odd in that I find reading theology books fascinating. Discussing it, not so much. In the KJV Proverbs 18:24 starts out with, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: ......". My interest was peaked. So, when I got home I studied a little. It seams that as simple as it is written that likely the verse was referring to how people act like they are your friend until the chips are down. Well Crusty knows that when the chips were down I got my share of them.

Went for a ride today. Got back and voltage LED was warning me that things were wonky. Then CEL came on and bike died. I pulled the seat and disconnected the positive side of battery. Oooh, purdy sparks.

I unhooked the output side of the VR. Then tapped the positive post with the positive lead from the VR. Oooh, more purdy sparks.

Well, it must be shorted to ground.

Found it!

One more layer of casing after that. Button it up and back out for another ride. Weird, The horn ain't honking.

Compressor works. Disconnect air line from it.

Pull hose and line out of hiding spot.

Patch hole and re-instal.

All is honking well.

Looks great!

Tracey and I are referring to it as the bathroom from Hades. Not a square corner in it and non standard measurements on the framing.

Sounds like a kitchen I'm putting into one of my rentals. 1951 building, I believe a converted single-family that is now over-under duplex. Replacing the upstairs (added/afterthought) kitchen - not a standard measurement to be found, not a level surface in the space. I placed the "custom" cabinets I had a contractor measure for, and the sink was 2-1/4" off center from the window it sits under.

I know. It's a rental. I shouldn't care...but it's the first thing you see when you walk in. Enter downstairs, base of the stairway. Top of the stairs, you look across the kitchen right AT the sink.

So, Saturday's project will be to disassemble the cabinet boxes along the right side wall, cut 2-1/4" of depth out of them, cut what's needed out of the drawer depth so they fit, cut what's needed out of the drawer tracks, and re-drill the holes for the shelf pins...before reassembling, installing, and leveling.

It's never easy.

Before cabinets:

...and cabinets placed. The one next to the range is the one I have to cut down, I was able to just move the lazy susan back enough to fit:

I also have to add a row of tile as you can see in the second photo, to fit the fridge. Standard cabinets are too wide to allow the fridge to stay on the tile.

I'll dig tonight when I get home, for some TRUE "before" photos when I had stuff open to bare studs for all the electrical updates (knob and tube, cloth-wrap wiring - NOT code!). And, there used to be a wall where the tile turns to hardwood...but I took it out, to open the kitchen to the dining room. They were both too small and dark, but opening it up makes it usable and comfortable. And, the tile is new - it used to be old, crappy vinyl flooring glued to the hardwood...it always freakin' snowballs, doesn't it?

Tracey wants a full length glass storm door on the front of our house. She also wants it to have a screen. I am not one to swap out glass in the spring and fall. We will probably get one that the screen magicaly unrolls from inside when you slide the glass down. The new front and rear doors are in:

I still have to replace the j-trim outside for the siding on the back door. The back door has blinds inside the glass:

I love those interior-blind setups. I put full-length french-door versions on my workshop and they're great. Light when I need it, privacy when I want it. And (important to the bachelor)....NO DUSTING!!!

Dusting is what you do to stop mud when stuff gets wet.

The front storm door is in.

Makes a lot of light inside.

Went classic screen style in the back. I do not like plastic screen doors.

The plywood floor of my trailer was delaminating and crumbling. I priced 3/4" treated plywood at Lowes. Near $65. I had four plastic panels that were 17" x 48" x 1/2" thick. I used four bolts with fender washers to install each one.

I left a 2" gap at the front and 14" at the rear. The trailer has a mangled mesh floor underneath of the plastic panels. I may place 1/2" wood at the front and rear just for looks. It will function great as is.

May want to add some grip tape to those plastic panels.

Or go all redneck and use some leftover asphalt shingles.

Yes sir. I have a piece of 3M Safety Walk 6" wide and 4' long. I want to wait till it is 65 degrees out tomorrow to cut it and stick it down. I have a roll 2"x60' on order if that isn't enough. I had already thought about how hard it would be to load in the rain. I may put a stripe in the middle for the tires.

Crusty got me thinking about a tool I used to have. I replaced it and got a nice sheath for it to boot.

I feel naked without it.

Tracey painted the fireplace white. So I painted the trim black.

Non-slip for the plastic deck in the trailer. Not bad insurance in the rain for an old man.

I decided to add an upgrade too. Yes, bracket is counter sunk and ramp was drilled and tapped for 1/4-20. Even used blue Loctite.

Why do you have a bottle opener on the side of the ramp?

Countertops got installed yesterday:

Quartz solid-surface, looks great. They did a good job. I just need to patch some plaster under the windows, and hang the overhead cabinets.

Before the counters were installed, I was thinking subway tile above the counters, up to the overhead cabinets, to match the bathroom. But now...a) I don't want the extra work, and b) I think it would look weird with the nice backsplash they put on the counters. So I'll just patch and paint the plaster instead.

Coke with cane sugar bottled in Mexico comes in glass bottles. Just in case.

Joe, That looks great. No back splash needed there. My kitchen (being under Tracey's management) will be receiving a mirrored glass tile back splash. We don't have a window over the sink or stove. Have you thought about painting the fridge white?

I'm actually going to trade the fridge at a local appliance re-do shop. I don't want upstairs tenants to have a water hookup to a fridge (potential leak point, damaging not only this apartment but the one below as well). This one is just the one that I had - it was actually in my house when I bought it, but I changed it to a new one shortly after because I wanted a drawer freezer.
