Dale Walksler from Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley NC passed on 2-3. Dale loved motorcycles! He had so much fun showing visitors how many bike started in the museum. He’d do a few burnouts in there too! My condolences to his wife and son. Godspeed Dale. | ||

It's a great museum and the one employee I talked to said that Dale's favorite bike for burnouts was the Crocker. It was a point of pride that all the bikes in the museum ran and were run regularly. I saw a 1924 Henderson 4 start with one kick. RIP Dale. | ||

So sad. I met Dale in 1991 when he was still in Mt. Vernon Illinois. I was taking my 91 FLHS in for it's 1000 mile checkup. While I waited in the show room Dale came out and introduced himself and asked me if I'd like to ride the Buell RR1000. I took him up on it. I'll never forget that ride but with two bikes already I didn't buy it. Many moons later I stopped in to the Museum with some friends and I went up to his office and he looked at me and said, "I know you! How do I know you?" I told him and he grabbed a can of gas and says, "let's go start some motorcycles!" He was a true enthusiast and will be sorely missed. RIP brother. | ||

Always sad to hear of another brother in motorcycles who love life pass away. Never met Dale or his museum. I'll make a point to visit when i'm in the area visiting 1313. RIP Dale Walksler  | ||

visited with a crew from Bad Web ( Ferris, Reep, JB2, me and a several more. My head was on a swivel, the board track exhibit was one of may favorites. and yeah we happened on Dale on the porch starting one of the board track bikes.. RIP | ||

Dammit. We've all got our "use by" dates, but I do hate to hear this. I've made it there once. Spent half a day looking at everything, including the mystery motorcycle that no one knows its provenance. So many cool things in the museum. Dale himself was the coolest thing- got to chat with him briefly. Crusticle- I remember him starting that Henderson too. My memory is that he walked up to the bike, turned on the gas, tickled the carb, then turned the ignition on. Put it in gear, then reached around to the rear wheel (rear end on stand), then yanked it. Essentially "bump" started it. He properly let it warm up for a minute, then jumped on and then proceeded to do a good burnout! Still got a nice jumbo coffee mug that his girlfriend made, with various clay impressions of old HD parts imbedded. I'll have my coffee in that mug tomorrow AM. For those who don't know, IIRC, Wheels Through Time is closed on Tuesdays, for whatever reason. RIP, brother Dale.  | ||

Dale and his museum were awesome. That was a frequent stop for me all the years I went to Franklin to hang with JB2, Ferris, Hillbilly Ed and the rest of that crew. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the museum, hopefully there are plans in place to keep it running. Godspeed Dale | ||

Godspeed Dale" Dale's kids have grown up in the museum, were/are involved in lots of restorations. I'll be checking in on their website from time to time now. Plus, I live close enough for a day ride out there and back... been long enough since my first visit, time to go again sometime this year I say. | ||

Dale's son has been doing YouTube video's for a while. He showcases different bikes giving the history of them and ofcourse he fires them up and sometimes takes them for a ride. It looks like the museum is in good hands. | ||

Flying back from a summer Harley Dealer Show in the early 2000s I was seated next to Dale. There was no discussion about the new models or anything to do with current Harley-Davidson’s - we spent the entire flight discussing bikes from the 40s. One of the most enjoyable flights I’ve ever had. RIP Dale. |
