Over with the mess, my friend was discharged from the hospital on Sunday and is doing fine. It was 7 days of severe flu, two days with chills under a double comforter until the fever broke, headaches, cough, no appetite for a few days since what went down took one of two exits soon after. I lost 5 lbs and now have zero fat, a good thing! lol All in all, at 68 it was not anything that I would put in the top 5 list of stuff that hurt me over the years, my wife got it and is just about recovered as did my 97 yr old Mom. From the other side of things now, what the hell the last 11 months was about I cannot fathom other than fear and control. Just my humble opinion... should have just protected the vulnerable population, those in good health of all ages can handle it.... (Message edited by xbpete on January 27, 2021) | ||

Craig - glad to hear it went well in the end. The last two sentences carry a ton of weight, coming from someone who has actually been through it. All the pontificating, and blustering, and preaching, has been done by people who have not had it nor experienced it first-hand. I value first-hand experience over all others. | ||

( now an illegal phrase? ) the "second wave" was predicted nearly a year ago by epidemiology experts, based on centuries of experience with this kind of thing. There are even historical parallels to the panic and power grabs. But antisocial media and a century of indoctrination has given us a perfect storm of authoritarian rule. Cool Joe, thanks Patrick.... Shit really changed two hours after I wrote my post about our experience with the CCP Virus. Mom (97) was feeling well in the morning, had her oatmeal with blueberries and coffee and took a little nap. She gets Meals on Wheels to deliver a hot meal at noon daily. The meal came, my wife woke Mom up, she came out into the kitchen to see what was on the menu. Louise noticed her face was drooping, speech slurred, righ side arm dangling and called me to come down from my office. She was an RN and we were in a stroke event! Called 911, did some other tests and they sent the EMT's. Of course since we were under NYS quarantine it had to be a special truck with PPE for CCP Crap. They arrived, one of the EMT's is a personal friend, indeed, Mom was in a stroke event and time was of the essence imho. They transported her alone, no family is allowed in Hospital so with instructions for her two hearing aids to communicate with her, I kissed her through the damn mask and she was taken. Three hours later, no call from Hospital I called to check on Mom. Yes, she was in a stroke event and tested positive for the virus and was in bad shape, life and death were merging. They were going to admit her. I could not go in to help nor my wife. Again we said to make sure her hearing aids were in and told them if they were not, she would not communicate. Because of the virus, she was put in the Virus quarantine section, they gave her comfort care only. Mind you, we shipped her three heart meds with handwritten notes when she left, with specific instructions, they determined that it was end of life and the Doctor called. The decisions I had to make were about ventilator use, CPR to revive after heart event....I made the calls according to her wishes on quality of life and prepared to let Mom go. They stopped all meds and then got ready to administer morphine until the end.... Did not sleep that night, talked to two Doctors, one in the ER and another in the Virus area. Talked to three nurses.... she was shutting down, she was not talking, eyes were vacant, she could not swallow or eat.... I cried, the day a son fears was put into my life. Called the Hospital at 7am on Thursday, she was not responding to anyone...I asked for the Doctor to call me.. At 11am, Doctor called. She had a cancer spot on her lung, pneumonia and would starve to death due to not being able to swallow. The option given me was surgery to insert feeding tube, IV until she passed that would be in the next few hours, Mom was suffering and had not had fluids for over a day. I implored them to put ice ships in her mouth for hydration, Doc said they might try to get her more upright to see if she could intake but he doubted it. They would not let me in, but wanted to stabilize then put in end of life facility, again, I could not see her.. Another tough decision..."Send Mom home!, we will be with her and care for her until ..... she will be surrounded by love, not gowned PPE strangers treated like a leper and alone.. I cried... Mom came home around 4PM, Hospice called and their protocols were because of the DNR, no 911 was to be called. We were given a 24 hr number to call, they expected her to pass during the night. Got Mom into her recliner, changed out of her Hospital gown into her clothes, changed the wax rings and batteries in her hearing aids.... just in case... she could mumble, eyes sort of vacant and then.... As I told her how much I loved her and kissed her forehead, she replied "Love you too!" WHAT? Doctors said due to the lung issue and that there was some heart damage, she would probably inhale any food or drink into her lungs and it would just make the passing quicker since basically the stuff put in would just gravity feed her lungs Opened a bottle of gatorade, put in a straw and asked her if she wanted a drink,, "Yeah..".... coughed once, then I watched her throat,,, damn if she could not swallow! Next came a bowl of oatmeal and blueberries, grabbed the spoon with her right hand and fed herself " That was GOOD!" Friday came, looked in on Mom expecting... I dunno what I was expecting but what I got was EXACTLY what I prayed for... "Good Morning Mom,,, I love you"... Eyes wide, face not drooping, stroke effects were diminishing.... "I love you my son!" From there we are making do, it is now Sunday, she had her OJ, Coffee and Oatmeal, needs help in the bathroom but is NOT in a bed in a diaper, and sure as hell is not dead yet! 3 Doctors, 6 Nurses, Hospice came out and does not have her any longer, vitals were good, chest was clear, she talked to the nurse and answered questions! They wrote her off.. To add insult to injury, I was released from NYS quarantine Friday night at midnight, put back into quarantine Saturday by the County and State because Mom was here.. Since I did not test, the thought of driving 12 miles with a fever and all the other stuff for a freakin test was not gonna happen.... the State said since I did not test, I was not assumed NOT to have had it, the antibody test was a three week wait, it did not matter that I was the source from exposure, I didn't take the test, so must 'follow the rules" To add insult to injury, the NYS "Contact Tracer" telling me this crap and that I "was free to move around my house, must stay 6 feet from Mom and Louise until February 12th" was,,, FEKIN CHINESE and proceeded to blame the situation on Trump..... I blew! No cops here yet but I would not put it past Herr Cuomo. I pay a penalty for not allowing them to let my Mom starve to death alone.. Ya can't make this shit up.... living in Crazy World.. I WILL NOT COMPLY, it's a damn flu! | ||

Bless you and family. What a nightmare. Prayers in progress. A close friend passed in Hospice care this last summer. Terminal cancer, not so much affected by the plague other than hand washing in & out to visit. I highly respect the Hospice care folk, but it's a radical gear shift from the life saving aspects of the medical world. The bureaucratic insanity/tyranny is another matter entirely. If it wasn't the Chinese Coronavirus, they'd hype Lyme disease. Reality vs. Political is often less believable than Elves. | ||

Dayum, Craig Good on you for making the right decisions. Lost my mom last month. She was in a rehab facility, I’m convinced she got subpar care and would still be here if she had stayed at the hospital. It’s the past now and all I can do is cope. Prayers up brother. Z | ||

The actual death toll, like in the CCP occupied China,may never be known. Politicians are generally not charged with murder for deaths caused by their orders. Proving intent usually requires documentation like a recorded message. However, Andrew the First was told his order would kill people, and responded more or less F##k You. Then the deaths started ramping up, and his response was the same. Then it went public, ditto. Then a poll said folk were upset, and only then did he change his order, but not his normal response to any criticism. Now it's F$$k You and it's Trump's fault.
