All, Not sure how many regulars here today that will remember Ed Manning, aka Hillbilly Ed. He joined the Buell community about the same time I did. He had a red M2 that he dubbed "Ferris's Fault". We both joined PACBOG in 1997 when BadWeB was in it's infancy. Ed and I hit it off right away and started meeting at Buell gatherings and then outside of Buell events. What transpired over the years were layers and layers of friendships that revolved around motorcycling. Ed was a constant smile on any gathering he attended. We heard early this spring that he was stricken with cancer. Lung, brain and pancreatic cancer. His chances were slim at best. Per his request, only a few were told and were sworn to keep it out of the public eye until he passed. Charlotte had cared for him at home until last week when he had to be moved to a hospice center. On Monday he passed and is free of the pain and torment of cancer. I will post some images as soon as I can. A small group of friends and enthusiasts thought BadWeB would be the place to host a thread celebrating his life and to tell your favorite "Ed" stories. I couldn't agree more since it all started with Buells, PACBOG and here on BadWeB. There will be no formal services but there are plans to have a celebration of life, possibly next spring. Ed, you will be missed my brother. Ride In Peace! JB2 |

I am sorry to hear this. Ed is a Buell legend and the embodiment of the type of character that has brought together and bonded so many of us. He made a difference and will be missed. Godspeed |

Deep friendships are rare. Men like Ed don't come along often (what I'm reading). RIP my Buell brother... Steve |
