Not only a ground breaker in the fields of AI and politics, it's a decent primer in Revolutionary Cell technique.
I think E.E.Smith did kinetic energy weapons first, but Heinlein's version is plausible and done "right". ( Smith's work took tech to seemingly absurd levels. ) That said, the hyper-competent Heinlein Hero was also a Smith staple. See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Anvil
...what did Robert Heinlein write that wasn't good?
I'd say Friday. Awesome and engaging, until the very end. But it is the worst/best example of the seeming habit RAH had of wrapping up a novel in 2 pages when he either got bored or had enough word count to pay the bills. ?
A few of the Juveniles were badly edited by the Publisher. In the Novel "Inferno" by Niven & Pournelle, ( a take on the Dante story ) they mention his editor is in the circle where people who ruin other people's work are put.
Thanks for that, nerd buddy! BTW, I received my copy of Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash" a couple of weeks ago, looking forward to getting back into that book... it'll be the 3rd or 4th time reading it. IMHO this book would make a fantastic movie if rendered to the big screen properly... it could rival Blade Runner for a killer sci-fi flick.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. -God
A bit of a thread jump, there. Any input for good sci-fi analysis, Patches? Maybe we should switch to C.S. Lewis? I've seen the movies, not read the books.
I'm trying to decide whether I should subscribe to what, the HBOMax to see Dune and several other movies this coming year... Bueller??
The Holy Bible is the best selling book of all time yet very few have read it cover to cover. God is the Author of the KJV not King James not man. KJV is Written in Modern English. A 5-year-old can understand it but Modern Literary Scholars and Scientist cannot. The Authors of Science Fiction that Michio Kaku quoted were students of Aleister Crowley the Beast 666. He thinks Star Trek is real just not proven yet.
Here is 13 hours of the history of Movie, TV and Music or Musick with a (k). It goes from Saturnalia and Bacchus (Dionysus) worship to modern Hollywood and Pornogrophy.
Belated happy Saturnalia! Thanks for the reminder.
So busy with family and the imminent descent of Yog-Sothoth or Wonder Woman 84 I forgot.
I just found in my reading pile the last of the Weber "Safehold" series. He wants to follow up with 2 sequel series, an 8 part rise of civilization, after wrapping up the cliff hanger series end. ( as in wtf do they do now? ) & a 3 part finale wrap up with the big battle scene. But he doubts he'll live that long.
Compared with Dune, Safehold is limited to one planet except in exposition, "Then mankind sent colony ships..." kind of stuff. And 34,000 years? Less then 2k, I think, they don't use Earth dates.
I'd rate it a good military SF read. The genre is "time shifted weapons... machine guns at Thermopylae...changes everything" but with the kind of twist David Drake used, " it's not an alternate history, it's set in a backslid colony world, & holy ancient computerized defense systems maintained by a priesthood "... Done fairly well, especially interesting if you're into flintlocks & weapons development.
Aesquire, H. P. Lovecraft was a student of Aleister Crowley. Both were Freemasons that worship Lucifer the Light-bearer.
86129squids, According to Guinness World Records as of 1995, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with an estimated 5 billion copies sold and distributed.[2] Sales estimates for other printed religious texts include at least 800 million copies for the Qur'an and 120 million copies for the Book of Mormon.[citation needed] Among non religious texts, the Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung, also known as the Little Red Book, has produced a wide array of sales and distribution figures — with estimates ranging from 800 million[2] to over 6.5 billion printed volumes.[3] Some claim the distribution ran into the "billions"4] and some cite "over a billion" official volumes between 1966 and 1969 alone as well as "untold numbers of unofficial local reprints and unofficial translations."5][6] Exact print figures for these and other books may also be missing or unreliable since these kinds of book may be produced by many different and unrelated publishers, in some cases over many centuries. All books of a religious, ideological, philosophical or political nature have thus been excluded from the below lists of best-selling books for these reasons.
Why recommending 13+ hours of content. It shows the history of Mass Media effect on Society and why it was invented. The only purpose of Mass Media and Sports Venues is to distract people from the teachings of the Bible.
The reason it is important today College Students believe there are more than Two Genders. Society believe there are more than One Race of People.
