So, I no longer work for an Indian dealer, but DAMN this looks like a nice ride. https://www.aimag.com/2020-indian-challenger-ride- review/ And I can definitely see details that would support the rumor of Elves, working for Indian... |

Yep; that article reminds me of all the articles that were written in the 80s, 90s and more recently pointing out how the (any brand of) Japanese cruisers were superior to a Harley. Then again; everybody gushed about the Indian Scout when it came out, and just how much better than a Sportster it was and is. I rode one, and if I won one in a contest, I'd sell it and get another Sportster. A Gold Wing is superior to a Harley, too; if you use the right parameters. For that matter, so is a Kawasaki Versys. It all depends on what you want from a bike. I have no use for an Indian. They make the wrong bikes for me and they embody all the negative aspects of Corporate H-D. If you don't think so, just try to buy a new Victory. Polaris did to Victory what the MoFoCo did to Buell. And their phony "Traditions" rub me the wrong way. They are not "America's First Motorcycle Company" That title belongs to Hendee Manufacturing. Polaris just bought the name. I saw a video of a Harley owner who test rode one of the new bikes. He admitted to, and confirmed all the propaganda, yet when he was riding away, he stated that he still preferred his H-D even though the Indian was better in many respects. In other words, Thanks; but No Thanks. YMMV |

Can't buy a new victory, crusty I just bought a new ftr1200 on a whim a week and a half ago. My buells were giving me fits so i decided to take a look at an ftr instead of setting the buells on fire. I absolutley love it and you can definitely see that some of the elves hands have been in there. It feels like the love child of my cr and uly. Its a bit heavy but has torque for days and runs hard to 135. FI is a little clunky (but there are tunes available to fix that, I'll eventually get to) and some of its styling is something that only a buell fan would love. Gas tank is small (3.nothing gallons) and really wringing it out nets you 35mpg, so 120 to a tank is a bit disappointing, but that's about cr range and it has an extra couple gallons so I'll get used to it. They gave me too good of a deal to pass it up and basically free financing. I've ridden 3 times, 200 miles each time I've left the garage. Did i mention they threw in 3 years of maintenance and tires, so that's one less thing to worry about and the local dealership techs don't seem to be the monkeys I've experienced at other places in the past. It's nice not to have that burden on my shoulders, plus once i have to start doing my own maintenance, it will have given the internet a chance to catch up to these "new" bikes. |

to be fair it's 3 years or 25k, whichever comes first. And I'm not just stuck with the "flat track replica" dunlops that come stock. I usually ride 25k or so a year, but have several bikes to spread it around. After my freebies are up, this dealership also installs tires for free, as long as you buy from them (the couple tires i inquired about they were cheaper than msrp on). That's not free install on wheels you bring in, that's bring the bike over and they do all the work! I'm sure they'll have ample time to disappoint me, but at this point it really seems like a good dealership. (Message edited by cupcake_mike on July 26, 2020) |

You sound like a bitter little man, Crusty. No thanks for you maybe but many thanks from many previous Harley owners, including me, riding Indians. Indian makes great bikes and the Scout blows the Sportster totally away. No comparison. Harley can't give Sportsters away these days. I owned a Sportster for 23 years and know Sportsters well. They were nice bikes but fall short of a Scout in every way. Enjoy your bike but work on that bitterness. The FTR is a screamer, Mike. A lot of fun to ride. I'm looking to get one soon. Still more Sportsters sold than all Indians put together. Indian motorcycles only account for 9% BRP sales. May 3, 2020 - However, Indian's sales are actually up 7%. Harley-Davidson's US sales, meanwhile, are down 15.5% in Q1 2020 compared to Q1 2019. Numerically, however, Harley-Davidson is still out-selling Indian. Statista reports that, as of March 2020, Harley has a 30.6% share of the US market. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/is-indian-doing-bette r-than-harley-davidson/ |

Here is an accurate picture of how Indian is kicking Harley's butt in at least one state, Arkansas, where Harley has a number of stores and just opened a new multi million dollar megastore in Little Rock in the last year or two: These are June results and are very similar for May. Overall market share: Harley 31%,down 22% from 2019. Indian 46%,up21% from 2019. Market share for bikes over 1200cc: Harley 44%,down 19% from 2019. Indian 35%,up 20% from 2019. Market share for bikes under 1200cc: Harley 0%!,down25% from 2019. Indian 71%,up 21% from 2019. I'd say Scouts and FTR's are doing okay. |

Does't bother me. My Uly looks like Big Bird - as long as it works, that's all I care about. I need to ride one. Looks like a VERY competent package. |

yet when he was riding away, he stated that he still preferred his H-D even though the Indian was better in many respects. My thoughts exactly as I loaded up my Bandit1200 for it's new owner. It had been sitting in the garage since the day after I bought my XB9S. |

I went to the Indian site, and 'Built' one just for fun. Rang up a tab of $35,000 when I was done putting on what I would want. Could have gone over $40,000 100% loaded. The biggest disappointment for me was not having a tourpak option. A luggage rack was all that was offered. They did offer an air intake sound upgrade, and slip on exhaust pipes which also upgraded the sound, but no mention of a performance boost. |

On the older Indian chiefs that didn't come with a tourpack you had to buy every piece separately and assemble it yourself. You talk about costly! It was just stupid. For a touring bike to not have a tourpack is amazingly stupid! Harley puts out their new Road Glide and it doesn't have one either! They act like these are their new Sport bikes or something. Somebody's missing the point! |

I always had a love affair with my FLHTC . . . and confess I, from time to time, get the bug to start doing some touring again. But . . for some reason . . . I can not seem to acquire a taste for the current crop of Harley-Davidson touring bikes. If I were buying today . . .it'd be a well optioned R 1250 GS. It's going to be right there in that $30k ballpark but provides the element of "bulletproof". |

Patches, that's the bat wing handlebar fairing and I don't care for it. The frame mounted Road Glide handles better and is more spread out, which I need. The fact is I wouldn't buy a new Harley. Knowing how they cut corners in building their engines I wouldn't own one. The Indian interest me but not without a tourpac. Once you have one it's hard to give up, sort of like a windshield! Court, I don't blame you for the reasons mentioned above. I've seen the insides of the Milwaukee 8 and I'm not impressed. It's going to be interesting to see how long one can last without aftermarket upgrades to the engine. |

That's the one. I thought they quit making it for 2020. I haven't seen one in the dealership, just the non tourpac models. I like the function of it but don't trust the internals. |

Wow. Having not been a H-D salesman since 2008-9, that FLTR looks... limited. Aesthetically, the tour-pak with the fairing is a bit much. Better without the tour-pak. $.02 remitted. |

This is what you need. World Class 2020 Low Rider S Custom Build. Combining the Retro FXRT style with the new softail Platform. This is an "all-in" build that is a perfect combination of function, performance, and style. Inspired by the West Coast, Club-Style scene and Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson Battle of the Kings World Championship build - the Coast Glide. Marco goes into all the modifications he made and how the bike is truly tailored to his riding needs.

I've seen that bike and actually like it! I was a fan of the old FXRD and FXRT. The problem is my 37" inseam. Anytime my knees are above my hips I get cramps. I need to stretch out! Squids, I think the tourpac balances the fairing. Then again, I'm more into function over form, that's why I also have the Uly! |

Harley 'wire' Davidson Preparing new 5 Year Plan. Harley ‘wire’ Davidson Inc., one of America’s iconic motorcycle companies, is working diligently to ensure that no wires are crossed as they move from Livewire to Rewire and now on to Crosswire. A Company spokesman was emphatic that the last thing the company needs are frayed or broken wires as they prepare their new 5 year plan, Plan Crosswire. Analysts have taken wait and see postures. TIC, of course. This pandemic is driving me CRAZY!!! I woke up this morning with this running through my head after reading Harley's quarterly results and emphasis on the word 'wire' yesterday. I need to get my internal wires sorted out. |
