I am trying to pack light this time. I have the bags on Lil Red. Making a list and checking over and over. Two's dining schedule looks like I will only get 4 meals there in 5 days. I need to plan on some packed food. Jim's can only pick up so much slack. I know about the place on the square in Blairsville. Are there some diners hid nearby Two's?
I try not to stop for long anywhere on the way down. I don't like twistys in the dark and it's 500 miles from my house to Twos. I may use an MRE for Wednesday evening.
'I don't like twistys in the dark and it's 500 miles from my house to Twos."
Heh- my first trip to Suches was with Vern and Jeremy, started to lose light in Tellico Plains after we'd done the Cherohala. Thankfully, Jeremy had installed a HID headlight on his Uly that about cooked any critter ahead of it. I kept thinking to myself, "these roads would be amazing in daylight!"- I was right the next day.
BTF 2020... I've got bad news/good news. Bad: My mechanic has deemed the BMW a "winter restoration project". Apparently it needs more than just a transmission bearing. Craptastic.
Good news: With my new job, it shouldn't be too big a stretch to take a Friday off, now that I'm working M-F with weekends off. I'm now scanning CL and FB Marketplace for a worthwhile 2nd steed. Missed a 1996 PC800 by a few days, the last year they were built right, and it was CHEEP. Still PO'ed I missed that thing.
If anyone knows of a decent D/S, or something like a V-Strom/Versys for good money for sale, holler. Most of youn's know I like odd bikes, holler on that too. Actually thought about a Ruckus this morning, don't know if anyone's made a tourer out of one yet, but probably...?
Anyhoo, I'm essentially without a viable motorcycle as of this writing, and it SUUUUCKS.
Well since I had to cancel my April reservation due to the Kung Flu the nice folks at TWOs were nice enough to let me reschedule a later date and not lose my deposit. So Cabin 8 it is, see ya'll in October! If not sooner!
RD- you're probably right about a stock Ruckus, but I've seen several modded out to go quite a bit faster. Just another weird idea out of my noggin.
Patiently scanning every day for a worthy ride. My commute home rolls me past a multi-line stealership, might poke my head in there this week out of curiosity. Called my old boss at SMHD, told him to BOLO for me.
A hopped up ruckus will be working that 50cc beyond reliability. It is going to be your primary ride. This one comes off the line with a horse and a half and weighs as much as a Harley. It will be up to 150 by mile 4:
I have finally broke down and ordered a pair of Men's NEOS Waterproof Overshoes. I used a pair up north when riding year round. This pair should fit my riding boots. The older set always kept my feet dry. I hope they stay in the bags.
I have ridden in the rain more in the last week and a half than I have in the last 5 years. And my rain suit has been where it does me the most good,in the spare bedroom!
Only time I ever got wet in my DryStar jacket was coming back from Two's. I love riding in the rain 1. When it is hot and I have on a mesh jacket and 2. When I have on good rain gear and it is cool out. A hot shower after is always great.
