I still remember talking to my brother when he came back from a Marshall Tucker concert in Raleigh, N.C. He talked about this new guy, Charlie Daniels, that opened for them being REALLY good. I think it was less than a year later and Marshall Tucker was opening for Charlie Daniels. Years later that same brother gave me a H.S. graduation present of tickets with him to a Marshall Tucker/Charlie Daniels concert. Poor Charlie was booed for the first two songs after Tucker left the stage. Being a GREAT entertainer he went backstage and brought Tucker out with him and they played together for a few and the place went nuts!! We did call Charlie back for 3 encores and on the last one he brought Tucker out again. I cherish the memory and will miss such a great American entertainer. RIP |

A great man and entertainer. Saw him with Marshall Tucker in the 70's and then again at one of the Harley birthday parties in Milwaukee. RIP Mr. Daniels! |

I had to call an old Navy buddy that I spent part of my 1987 western states road-trip. Ft. Collins - Grand Junction - Phoenix - San Diego - Seattle ( US 1/ 101) - Vancouver Island. Then home through Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming. Ken and I rode from South Bay Area to Portland, stopping for the Redwood Run where Charlie and Marshall played. Like a mini Sturgis. RIP mr. Daniels Z |
