I usually make a couple orders a year and have so for the last decade or so. Usually not huge, but likely, in total, have spent a thousand or 2. My local dealers don't have any interest in cross referencing buell parts, so SPHD is who i buy my non-aftermarket parts from. Anyway, i think any of us who ever dealt with Lance can all agree we lost a real treasure when he moved on, but i really haven't had any problems with getting stuff and communication with his successor, Doug. Until my last order several months back and the one i made last week. Not sure that doug is around anymore? I say because both of these last 2 orders had backordered items, which i was not made aware of until i called after not hearing anything for a week, like i said, it's different experience from how it used to be when Lance would call me within hours of placing my order if something was on backorder. Not too mention, every time I've sent them an email in the last six months nobody has responded. Either way, i get it that stuff goes on backorder and while I'd prefer to be notified, its probably asking too much for that to happen. But what's really getting to me is the attitude i get when i call to inquire about my stuff that's already been paid for, for a week! The parts counter guy has been very rude the last 2 times, not even offering to give me a timeline as to when i can expect my parts and giving me a rash of shit that i even asked what parts were holding it up. I tried to add another small part to the order and was told "he wasn't in a position to take an order over the phone". I mean WTF? He also threw in the "we are in the middle of a global crisis". Give me a f@$kin break, that's an excuse to not communicate to your customer, huh? Anyway, I'm probably done with them now...fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, can't get fooled again. |

Yea I've noticed the same. A friend of mine ordered some belts for our bikes in May, they were on backorder, heard nothing from them until they shipped a few weeks later. Lance, or Al @ American Sport Bike would always keep us updated. I'm not sure if with all this Covid stuff if their usual parts guy is out or what. |

Buy on eBay. They sale their parts on eBay too, and if it is posted on eBay it is in stock. If you are not happy with eBay seller service you can give him rating accordingly. |

Al was great to buy from. I broke a belt on the way home one day. As I waited on my chase vehicle to pick me up, I sat in the grass and ordered a new belt. Lance did great for us too. I am not about throwing the baby out because the water got cold. Sometimes it is better to let people that have done right by you know about your concerns. |

I wonder how close the recent riots were to the dealership? That has to have affected things. I can imagine it’s hard to be enthusiastic about your job wondering if you’re gonna be drug out of your car and pummeled on your commute home, or worse. |

The dealership is not affected by the riots. They are a fair amount away from where all the chaos was. I was there a couple weeks ago on the EBR prototype. IIRC, I think the Buell guy, (Doug?) is moving on as well. It remains to be seen who will pick up the Buell banner there, but they have a fair amount invested in inventory. I suspect they will continue to support us as long as we continue to support them. |

The parts I need aren't on ebay. Not throwing out the baby, the folks who helped in the past aren't around anymore and apparently there isn't anyone else their who cares about customer service. I am sure the riots have lead to some uneasiness, but guess what, if you aren't interested in doing your job, quit. I'll spend my money with folks who don't act like I am taxing them. |

I just ordered (and quickly received) a voltage regulator about a week ago, no issues. Losing Lance was a big deal but what else do we do? Maybe the parts guy on the phone was just having a bad day... we all do. IMO, It's still worth supporting SPHD just for the fact they are willing to stock and sell Buell parts, even if service isn't on the top of their list, like it was when Lance handled it. |

I was able to find everything i need from new castle HD, for a few bucks cheaper and in stock. The sphdbuell site is handy, it takes a little more work to call or email and identify ahead of time if what I need is in stock, but I always order via the parts manual so I don't need the pretty pictures. |

Having parts numbers is very efficient and if the parts guy isn't motivated, gets better results. |

“and if it is posted on eBay it is in stock” I can tell you from first hand experience that is not the case. Plenty of drop shippers on ebay. |
