30 years ago today. Seemed like something to juxtapose our current 'reality' and do some historical reading etc. DuckDuckGo search gives up this as the 2nd link:
I'm pretty much speechless. |

A wider shot of the one guy standing in front of, not just a tank, but the Army. |

I stood in that spot a few years ago on Christmas Day, about 20 below and snowing. What an amazing man for taking on the Army. Huge balls! I hope that never happens here. |

People in the ChiComm Mob run China today don't know what happened. It's been erased from history there. They block all information and web sites that mention it. |

Thanks hats an interesting concept Blake, you must not know any Chinese nationals. We do enough business and have a Chinese daughter-in-law, many of her family live in Beijing and Chendu. My business is south of there. They have not forgotten and of the group that know it’s passed from generation to generation without the need for the internet. It is well remembered and reveried. |

Kmbuell, it you don't actually go to China and talk to a friend, someone you've established a relationship with, away from government minders, just depending on the propaganda arm of the most murderous thugs in the history of mankind, you would never know there was ever a square in Beijing with that name. You'd have been assured, even threatened with violence if you doubted, that no one was harmed, ever, by the kind Army assistance in Tianamen square. Generals of the Red Chinese Army. Ambassadors. The entire nepotism pit of snakes that is the CCP, where vast industries are owned by some General's nephew, all deny there is any evidence that anyone of the vicious protesters were harmed by the beloved and gentle Army. And any live video implying that Chinese officers ordered their tank tracks to be lubricated by human blood, MUST be fake! To be fair, CNN will tell you there was never a scandal in the Obama administration. So I'm not being racist to point out that the Religion of Lies is the nature of leftists. |

Amazing how you turned this anniversary into a US political rant. The Chinese have many issues, but g Th he people are much more aligned than the US citizens are. They understand how little we influence they have and just work around it for the betterment of their people. I know there are race/religion issues, but again it’s government not ordinary citizens. Of the four Asian countries I’ve spend time in, China would be my third choice. Japan is #1Thailand is #2 and Indonesia is a place I would never live. |

Oh, that's not a political rant. That's admitting that propaganda isn't the exclusive property of the Chinese government. I could have used the BBC as example. |

China is the Middle Kingdom and relatively uniform in ethnicity, at least in the eastern parts, less in the west, the conquered "barbaric" lands. More importantly, 70+ years of brutal rule by a cult. And generations under Imperial & bureaucratic rule. Aligned? That's one way to put it. America otoh, is the wretched refuse melting pot. Despite the coastal elitists, uniform, we ain't. Most of us like it that way. Let's see, oh, yeah, the BBC. |

KM I do know Chinese nationals. When were you last in China? It's changed a lot in the last ten years. Total authoritarian state that is claiming totalitarian ownership of the entire S. China Sea, Tibet, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and now even taking liberties in Mongolia. You would like to live there? I'd reconsider that. You do NOT want to live in China now. The Chinese I know couldn't wait to get out, but maybe they'd rather live there than Cambodia, sure, okay. (Message edited by blake on June 07, 2020) |
