I now have 2 Bikes for the first time with the purchase of a 2011 XR1200X. I am keeping the M2 after all what are you going to get for a bike with a 110,000 miles on it. The new bike fills a need for a sport touring bike I can no longer ride much over 250 miles in a day without my knees aching to high heaven too many years working on my knees on concrete. The XR seems to run ok all though it seems to be short geared 70 indicated turns 4000 rpm. At least I can put some highway pegs on it to stretch out my legs. Has anyone on here had this model and how did it work out. |

I bought a 2010 XR1200 in the fall of 2017, with 800 miles on it. I had meant for it to be an eventual replacement for my Ulysses, but I haven’t taken any really long trips since I bought it. I modified the exhaust and intake and put a tuner on it. I did some re-shaping of the seat and I had it recovered, - and lowered the pegs by about 3/4”, so it’s much easier to put miles on it than previously. I’m kind of going a different direction with it than I had originally intended - putting X forks and shocks on it this year. It’s heavy and I notice it - and the brakes need improvement, but it’s still a really fun bike. (And... I’ll always keep my Buells.) (Message edited by screamer on April 07, 2020) |

Nice buy! Scanned a few recently on-line as a potential replacement for the Uly. . . Looks like a fun replacement, even if a short run of production. Maybe some FXRP side cases. . . Enjoy it. |
