Hate to, but skipping a family wedding this coming Saturday. In Nashville. M refuses to go.
Just got off the phone with Vern. He'll probably make it, I'll probably follow Crusty's lead. Too many variables flying at us now. Surprised I'm heading in to work this evening. Hope they tip me well. Working a 2 person floor, myself and another long-time ace. Probably going to be called off tomorrow.
Maybe Vern or someone could offer a delivery service from Jim's...
Have any of youn's listened to the vid/song I posted above? I was just thinking of it, clicked on it, and halfway through it hit WDVX's playlist. Live. After that, IIRC it was Junior Brown, "Aint Gonna Work Today".
I just got a call from my friend in Kentucky. They've closed down the restaurants too. He left Nashville to open up a new Comfort Inn five miles from the Ark Experience. He just signed a years lease on a house and they let him go two weeks after they opened. He got everything set up real nice and they canned him. This guy has improved every motel he's managed. The last one in Nashville went from a four to a nine in one month. So my visit to see him on the way down is not happening. I'm keeping an eye on Tennessee. My original plan to go to Florida is in the dumpster too. So now it would just be a ride to TWOs and back. We'll see, not saying no yet but it's not looking good.
"Maybe let's put our heads together and pick a different date during the summer?"
September? (I might even make it if it's then.) Antipodal March Badness? (technically not correct as the geographic location is constant.) AU equinox? ( is that even a thing?)
Well as much as I'd like to see all your ugly mugs in front of a plate of Jim's ribs I think I'll just wait till October. Nashville is now shut down. The weather when I would leave is 50% chance of rain. The weather here on the weekend of the event is going to be awesome here so I think I'll take a local ride. If you do figure out another date we'll see, but if not, see you in October!
I just called TWOs and canceled my reservation. If you cancel 14 days in advance they will return your down payment minus ten bucks. Since it's less than 14 days away I was prepared to eat my $65.00. Due to the circumstances she's going to keep my money on hold and allow me to use it later this year! Great folks being even greater!!
Oh man. March Suck Fest. I've been in my two week pre Jims Ribs drool position. To some it looks like I have another mental condition walking around drooling on myself thinking about those damned ribs.
I thought about the ribs, camping, and yous guys all through the winter. I plan on getting down there later this year. I feel horrible about not making it there next week.
I'd reckon that with social distancing and all there won't be any hands on fightin'. Just won't be the same with the "We ain't gonna fight rule".
I just got back from TWOS where Bill,Skip and Carol had a meeting about the situation. They are concerned about food delivery for next week and at this point will play it by ear.Carol will call me hopefully on Monday and report on the food situation. They will only offer breakfast and lunch this weekend.
In terms of an alternate date,June has two weekends open,July has two,in August every weekend is available and September only one.I have the GA Moto Guzzi campout the third weekend in September.
They just posted on Facebook that there wouldn't be dinner served. I was going to ride out West in June. Been a long time since I've done that. The whole Summer is up in the air at this point. Oh, and Vern, your just a few hours ride from those ribs so don't be bitchin about it!!
Whatever you do DONT take my opinions seriously. September was just a suggestion, and from a tumbleturd that's never actually attended. I had completely forgotten the October gathering, probably because I've never been to that one either. I had been thinking with all the world shutting down, this might be the year to try to earn an "Iron Butt" certificate. Several days on the road with nothing but my personal bluetoothed soundtrack and engine noise sounds really nice. Depending on when and where the gatherings are, I may try to incorporate it in with a Buell gathering.
John, for some reason it's not on the calendar.I heard recently that Bloke, the guy that sponsors it is moving to the Isle of Man but was also told that someone was going to keep it going. It seems I recall it being in the fall,I'll try to find out.
Hey guys, I hate to see a bunch of you dropping out but at this time I'm still planning on going. To be blunt, I need the vacation. I started a new job a few months ago, doing IT for local government and this Coronavirus mess has been a royal shit storm. I've been killing myself to help get thousands of workers able to work from home. The county where I work has been hit hard by confirmed cases and was shutting things down before the rest of the state started to react. Some of my co-workers (and possibly me) have likely been exposed in recent weeks, nothing is still open here and everything is getting depressing fast. My commute today wasn't far off from looking like a scene in I Am Legend, there is nobody around and the living things you do see you don't want to be near.
Two of my Buells are still in the shop, I have no idea when I'm getting them back with everything else is going on. Some god damn China virus isn't going stop me from getting some good BBQ, hopefully I'll be eating at Jim's this time in a week. I still have my cabin at TWoS reserved. Even if I have the place to myself I'm sure I'll find some nice riding.
Froggy, I cancelled my days off on Thursday/Friday, but if you don't mind I'll ride up and join you Friday night and stay the weekend. I'll set my hammock up on Saturday morning, but if I could crash on your extra bunk just for Friday that would be great.
Matt, of course. You can stay the entire weekend in there if you'd like. I'm hoping I'm not infected or a carrier but I've not been tested, but I do feel healthy (just exhausted from these last few weeks)
NY Governor just ordered 100% of our employees that are not essential to stay home, so that means more for me to get working now.
Gretchen is in and out of medical offices all day long, patients coming and going.
If I was going to get sick, I probably would have by now. Gretchen has had walking pneumonia for weeks, but nobody else in the house has any symptoms whatsoever.
I appreciate the offer to stay inside, but I really get my best sleep of the year hanging in that hammock so I'll stick with that. I just don't want to be setting it up in the dark.
