Is there going to be a March Badness? The entire country is in a state of Lockdown. Schools here are closed for three weeks, Major sports events are either cancelled or audience free. Concerts are cancelled. Hell, even the Daytona 200 is going to be run without spectators. The level of panic nationwide is higher than it was during the Cuban Missle Crisis.
Well; I'll be there. If nobody else shows up, I'll still have fun. If everybody else shows up, we'll all have fun.
I just watched a fair sized portion of the President's speech. Once again, the MSM has managed to distort reality to suit their agenda. I'd compare their objectivity to that of Pravda, but I don't want to insult Pravda.
Bottom line, even if TWoS's lodge is closed (which is doubtful), the campground is open and there will be plenty of firewood. We put the money in the box, and maybe have the whole place to ourselves!
That's fine as long as the Governor doesn't shut down everything like in Illinois and Ohio! I was planning a 3 week long trip starting in Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia. Then onto Alabama and Florida. If I can't get a beer at the end of a long ride that is going to suck! Riding in the rain and only having the drive thru for food would also suck! If any more of these states go off the deep end I may just stay home, although as long as Georgia keeps their wits I could still make TWOs.
A new gas station opened up near me and their gas prices were slightly less than those around them. New place wanting new business I assume. So I filled up and went into the mart and saw they had a pretty big beer selection with the Beer Cave in the back. The place was fully stocked except the two foot wide space where I assume there used to be toilet paper!! I just laughed and walked out. I'm still hoping for good weather and open restaurants on my way to Suches. Plans could change right up to departure. I like Crusty's MEME, to avoid the virus Ride a Motorcycle!
OK; I've been avoiding saying this; but it's not looking too good for me making it down to Suches.
It's partly because of the Corona panic. Around here, they've banned groups of 50 or more and there's talk about banning groups of 10. Also, they've closed all the bars and restaurants. You can't sit inside and eat a meal; it's all "To Go" only. If they're doing it here and in other places where I have friends, it won't be long before it happens in the Georgia mountains. I can handle having to get ribs from Jim's as a Take out, but it would suck if the main room of the lodge was closed. Especially since the long term weather forecast is showing rain for the whole time. Waking up in a tent and not even being able to go into the lodge when it's raining really doesn't appeal to me.
What I think I'll do is use the money I was going to spend on food and gas to buy a battery for the 78 XLH. It's a long way from being ready to ride, but I'd love to hear it run. And who knows, maybe I'll get it running well enough by fall that I'll be able to ride it down for Buelltoberfest. I'm pretty sure that things will be back to normal by then.
