It's a bit textbook like, and a slow read. His "A Western Way Of War... So it's natural for a history scholar to look at current events informed by the Past. Gives you better, if not perfect, perspective. Yeah, we've got vaccines and DNA testing, and speed of light planetary communications. And that's all wonderful. But no one slammed the door on this pandemic in time, for various reasons. Initially, because the Chinese God King didn't want to look bad, and has people murdered to hide any flaws in his Paradise. So, yeah, you can't trust any numbers from China. You're best being skeptical of any claims by a sitting administration, CYA applies, and be Very skeptical about any claims by the opposition. If you just assume the more Left side is lying, you will live a longer and happier life. | ||

I feel that I am able to learn the facts and still live life. We did run to town this AM to get some things. On the way there I saw someone with their back seat stuffed full of TP and paper towels. Home Depot was kind of odd. I've never seen so many people working at Home Depot. Probably close to as many workers as customers. We also stopped for some groceries at Walmart, just because it shares a parking lot with Home Depot. No eggs or butter. Most things were available, but shelves were far from full, and the store was busy. We're about to out to walk the pup at a local nature area. Trust me, I'm enjoying living life, especially being off work because of the school closings. | ||

As soon as we get a break from the rain, I gotta get started on the yard and garden. Need to transplant about a half-dozen red hot poker clusters. Gutters need cleaning. Pressure wash the siding. Probably going to skip my cousin's daughter's wedding next Saturday. Entertaining thoughts about heading to Suches the next weekend, but M would probably give me hell if I did. If one needed comfort food in these times, Jim's 'cue would be hard to beat. | ||

I got my white board out today. My wife asked what that was coming out for. I just said "to do list", and it got filled right up. I've got at least 3 weeks off, spring is starting to break, so it's a great time to get some stuff done. We just got the first case in our county today. It's traveling quickly. Next you get saturation. Really weird seeing fast food places deserted. Cross country driving has got to kind of suck without the ability to take a break and grab a bite to eat out of the vehicle. Strange times! | ||

Some things you've said make it clear that you are rejecting reality though. I do live life, quite fully. I can do so without senseless risk though. Like I said, I'll continue posting the videos to keep them easily available for any that care to see them. They are easily ignored for those who don't care to hear what's going on. I do wish you the best in all of this. It's up to you to decide what's best for you though. I hope you are making good choices. | ||

I confess I’ve likely not watched 5 of the videos this year and whenever someone posts videos, absent any meaningful explanation, it strikes me a “click bait” My greatest fascination is wondering where folks find time to dig them up. I’m damn sure I’ve not the time to watch ...much less spend endless hours perusing the internet. But ..... we all have different sources of news and I realize .....never having had a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other sort of social media (except about 38 days of Facebook when it was newly announced...took me a couple weeks to see i was chattel) ......and whoever you get your news ....well...good on ya Still fun to read some of this stuff. The conspiracy theories amuse. If this current concern strikes you as a hoax ....git here ass on over to Wal-Mart...sign on as. Greeted and start shaking those hands. :-) | ||

Somewhere between "no worries mate" and "Dooooomed!!!" Is the right attitude. Ditto, somewhere between 24/7 self bombardment, ( like watching news channels ) and "don't wanna know", is the "right" attitude there... I don't watch every video posted, but I do flip through a few sites to follow the international reports, and admit to some amusement and dismay at pundits convinced that Iran will implode or everything is a plot. Won't be as neat or simple as it seems. As to plots, I just assume it's sponsored by Hydra, and am usually correct. But if you find out it's all a Red Chinese Army Intelligence operation, I won't be surprised. I can't do anything about dictators & billionaires, and like Epstien, I'm not suicidal. So I don't worry about it. So obsess, to whatever level amuses you. And wash your hands.  As to the zapper Doc... I'm assuming it's a scam. But if it does work, I have 2 questions. How do you keep it from zapping your home team bacteria? Like the E coli that lives in balance in your gut and helps digest food. We have a variety of germs that are fairly symbiotic. I seem to recall rumors, possibly fictional, about an experimental broad spectrum antibiotic that kills most every single celled critter in a body, but leaves the patient open to the next term that floats by, that then runs wild, killing the guy it just saved from fatal term x. "It cured his Ebola, then he died of athlete's foot 18 hours later" Whether that's a real drug or not, the zapper promises to do the same, and the comment that the original treatment often caused colds seems to indicate the problem of a "germ power vacuum" applies . It also lends verisimilitude to the reality of the zapper, but that could be just clever writing. So... Feel free to try It out. Let us know. It would not be the first time that I was wrong. | ||

I just read a long thread on Twitter about this; it’s the Imperial College report on COVID-19: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial-college/ medicine/sph/ide/gida-fellowships/Imperial-College -COVID19-NPI-modelling-16-03-2020.pdf According to the summary posted, they ran a simulation based on the information out of China, S Korea, and Italy. This is what caused things to kick into high gear here a couple of weeks ago. If we treated this like the seasonal flu, they estimated 4 millions Americans would die in the next 3 months. Partial measures could cut that in half (the “level the curve” strategy) but it’s still a grim scenario. The measures currently in place should result in a leveling off of the death rate in the US in the next 3 weeks and then a decrease after that. But we’re going to be practicing social distancing for a long time. The report states that we may be able to temporarily relax social distancing protocols later this summer, but the only long-term fix for this is a vaccine, and it will take more than a year to develop, test, and mass-produce that. If you’re interested in reading the entire thread, which is a much more detailed synopsis than this, look up @jeremycyoung on Twitter. He’s apparently a history professor, but hopefully he’s putting out good info. |
