Hmmm. My very first table of guests last night were Japanese. I did my regular thing, aced the table, even thanked them in Japanese.
The whole time I was thinking about the fkin virus. If I put on a restrictive mask, I can't breathe. Oh well. Motorcycles haven't killed me yet, why worry about this shit.
I think the US is either doing an incredible job of limiting the spread of the virus, or doing a piss poor job of identifying those that have it. Not sure which yet, but it will eventually become self evident.
I think it's both... A decent job of limiting travel, but a poor, but improving job of finding who is infected.
Not as bad as China is damning faint praise, however.
Part is changing rules on who to test. Incoming folk in the last 2 weeks is a bad limit. This has been spreading for well over a month.
You will find sudden increases as they test more. It's like the surge in autism. The number of kids with it didn't change, the definition did.
If you want full panic mode read zerohedge. If you want lies read the Democrat Press. If you want reassurance that things are fine, read the White House site.
All are wrong. The first sells panic gear. The second wants power so truth and human life are impediments. The third wants to prevent worse problems from panic.
The bottom line is Pooh's Breath is here.
Remember, I said they always close the gates too late.
How bad? Don't know yet. 4 thousand to 40 million dead are expected. So really mild flu season to ironically saving Social Security.
To be fair, there may be a worse plague coming out of France or Turkey. But that China will pump out it's annual disease that kills thousands is a given.
Yeah, I was shopping this weekend. Wally world for dog food, and the vitamin shelves were TOTALLY BARE. Then, Lowe's for paint - contractor was there while I was waiting for my sample to get mixed up looking for respirators to...well...paint. With a spray gun. "Sorry dude, we're totally out and I don't know when we're getting any more in".
Seriously people?
One of the guys on a gun forum I frequent says that the long-term food people who normally ship within a week...are pushed out 10 weeks or more. Shops are running out of ammo.
For what is, basically...a new strain of flu. No more or less deadly than the annual influenza, just something new.
It is more deadly. There is second dead due to coronavirus in the USA here is Seattle. It has 5% dead rate and it is spreading significantly faster than flu.
Even if you will survive you will go through hell because of pneumonia is not fun at all.
Here in Seattle shelves are empty, no water, no toilet paper.
Not just more deadly, but many times more deadly. Probably in the range of 20 to 50 times more deadly. Could be worse than that. The period of being contagious is also much longer than flu, even when there are no symptoms. This really helps with the transmission of the virus. It doesn't sound bad now, simply because it hasn't had a chance to get ramped up yet. It's just starting in China. I don't mean to sound alarmist, but equating it to just a new flu isn't seeing it for what it is. Certainly not a flu strain we've seen in our lifetime anyway.
The Company i work for TE Connectivity sent me home early today as a suspect case. I picked up a guy on my way in from Pawtucket,RI. He has a cold.He wore a mask on the commute into work. They freaked out upper mgmt. Now i have to see the Urgent care in order to be cleared to go back to work. I spent the rest of the day Mountainbiking various forests nearby. I am sad they marked me with a Scarlett letter

WOW! Are they expecting you to stay away from work for the entire potential incubation period of about 4 weeks? That's the only way to clear you if your were potentially exposed. I hate to say this, but your upper management sounds clueless on this matter.
Imagine this virus has 95% dead rate on smokers and drinkers and 1% dead rate on non smokers and non drinkers, would you stop smoke and drink to survive?
