Nice! I just had my Maytag fridge taken away to be shot. It's always been bad for freezer burn, and it was cycling up to 35 and freeze thaw cycling. Pull out a brand new 8 pound bag of chicken tenderloins, and it's a solid, red ice ball. Well. DAng. New Frigidaire scratch & dent & tipped the delivery guys for hauling them up & down a frozen snowy long unpaved driveway. Hey, it's an excuse for stocking only health food.  And that floor could use replacing... | ||

The weird parts of putting this floor back down is one not having to cut but 3 or 4 boards for the whole room and the under side of the boards are warmer than the top making the boards curl up an 1/8" over the 6 foot length. Because I am laying them reverse of the normal pattern for putting them down I have to slide them under while rocking them up and down. I am taking breaks often. I remember how stiff I was while laying the floor the first time. I am at the second doorway now. Time to trim a board. | ||

This was one of the places that were too tight.  Kind of tight for me back back there.  There was enough clearance cut at the register.  | ||

Worked it around the door way.  Buttoned it all up.  Remounted the door. Got lucky and didn't move the settings on them.  I'll slide all the furniture back and my excuse for not trimming out that room is gone. I just had a feeling about the floor in there. So, I hadn't finished the trim till after the cold weather got here. I had struggled with the fit at that door way. It was real snug getting the floor to fasten. It is all floating well through out the house now. I used one of the five spare planks I kept after the job was finished. | ||

Looks nice. I didn't realize it was a snap together floating floor until now. Who makes that product and where did you get it. I'm planning to rid the new place of it's carpeting. | ||

There's any number of products out there now, colors, finishes, "types" of wood, from any number of vendors. Some are composite, some are wood-look vinyl. Like anything, shop around and educate yourself on finishes and brands and thicknesses. Personally, I use a lot of the prefinished hardwood flooring in my personal homes and in rental properties, and have had outstanding luck with it (I also own a flooring air nailer setup, which makes installation infinitely easier!). I prefer the real hardwood just because it doesn't sound or 'feel' as hollow as the floating stuff can...but I grew up with hardwood flooring so I'm just used to it I guess. | ||

I got it through https://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/home It is Bamboo. Each plank is 1/2" thick 5" wide and 6'long. They come 8 planks in a box. I bought 60 boxes. That weighed 3,000 pounds. I went with a real nice under pad/vapor barrier. It is not a laminate. I don't like laminate floor. They never seam to wear as well as they claim. I only plan on doing this house once. | ||

Thanks RD. I've done laminate floating floors before. In our last house I used a product that Home Depot carried, I think it was made by Dupont. I don't see it around any more. I was really happy with it, and it wore well. One really neat thing about it was that each piece ended with a grain pattern that mated to the grain pattern on another piece. It really hid the end joints well. The new house will have a lot of flooring to do. I'm not sure I want to learn to nail down a wood floor on that big of a project. Screwing it up would piss me off and potentially cost a good deal of cash. It will cover a dining room, living room, hall, and three bedrooms. | ||

One thing this stuff let me do was it allowed me to go 30' without a joint. I have a 27 1/2' long area and did not want to have to put in one of those raised seams for expansion and contraction. I got away without any. | ||

Air nailers are easy. Set the plank. Snug the nailer against the side, pushing it into the plank next to it. Smack the nailer with a hammer, pushing the plank tighter against the last one as it nails. Before:  After:  | ||

I've been a little under the weather for a week or so now and my sleep has suffered. It got me thinking about camping and my CPAP machine and how to power it. At the WVBR I camped too close to the activities for the sake of a power outlet and would have been better to have pitched my tent further from the fire like the year prior. I camped without the CPAP last Spring at Two's and my health was ebbing away more each night. SO, I decided to try and put together a power solution. I recently found myself with the funds to order a power supply. A ROCKPALS 300W Portable Generator, Lithium Portable Power Station, 280Wh. It is not really a generator. It is a fancy battery pack that weighs 7.3 pounds and fits in my bikes luggage. Fancy it is too. I can plug a solar panel straight into it. It will charge from a wall outlet, has a pure sine wave inverter on board. If I turn off my CPAP's heater and humidifier. I should be able to get 3 or 4 nights without having to recharge if I run my CPAP from the DC outlet instead of the inverter. I have the part to make that happen. I should be able to recharge at WVBR and Two's daily. That will allow my tent or hammock to be wireless and I'll be able to breath. I need to start working on my load out for Lil Red while it is still winter. I want to have more fuel available on Lil Red too. | ||

Just a thought... why not bring a long-enough extension cord? Although I like the sound of your power gadget. A couple of my truck drivers have 12V DC powered CPAP machines... so that might be an option | ||

why not bring a long-enough extension cord? 50 feet of 10/3 wire is heavier than the 300W. I have the factory 12V adapter for my CPAP. I did haul a power cord to the WVBR this year. | ||

It came in the mail today!!! I try to get Lil Red readier and readier during the winter. The other day I ordered a customer return Air-Hawk padded seat. Not a thing wrong with it. Price with free shipping, $30, in the retail box, with straps, etc. It is the 11" x 11" Dual Sport pad. I need all the help I can get riding an Scg with a low seat more than 500 miles a day.  | ||

I have learned to put it into smaller boxes as I get older. If you can't run with a box, you have too much in that box or too big a box. I need to build the .357 up to a thousand rounds. I keep looking at S&W 686s with 6" barrels. | ||

+1, RD. Rode the Beemer enough to run some errands and get a heat cycle through the motor, on back roads with my new Christmas sweater on, all that was needed without ATGATT. Also had the helmet cover on, had two people ask for a photo. Yeesh! Great day. Got a lot of post-holiday stuff done, weather was great, sis made it to Little Rock safe and brought the cats home. Tried out our new air fryer, made curried sea bass over rice, with crispy zucchini chips. YUM. Sometimes I get lucky. Here lately I know I'm blessed. |
