They are well screened. Revealing ..... the potential shortcomings of background checks. Until the concept of personal responsibility and accountability makes a return we’ll be dealing with issues like this. Relying SOLELY on background checks as a way to prevent gun violence is as silly as limiting magazine capacity. | ||

Every time I carried I was given ammo with the exception of marching in the Helldorado Parade in LasVegas. Even then we had armed personnel with loaded weapons to secure the m-16s we marched with. Waiting for more peoples experiences? | ||

Even if the Sheriff won't enforce anti-2A laws, the town police chief and the State Police might. It is chuckle-worthy when the gun grabbers say that the law has to be followed but yet they are very happy to pass laws that abridge the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, without amending the Constitution. Since they have situational ethics, they don't want the 19th amendment treated the same way, I'm sure. | ||

I sold my 15-22 and 7" upper. The 7" upper guy stiffed me so I had to relist it. The 15-22 guy is cool and is buying it as a 40th birthday present. I'm not particularly happy about letting it go, but it's good to know that it's going to a good home. The 5.56 rifle has been reduced to nine pounds now. That's a full pound off the previous measure. Still slightly portly. The rifle originally weighed 8.5lbs bare. Considering it has a free float tube, optic, backup sights, and a light, that isn't bad. It's gone from heavy 20" barrel with fixed sights and a fixed stock to a medium 16" barrel with a collapsible stock and flip up sights. I was curious to see how the 15-22 rifle compared weight wise to the AR-22 pistol. They end up being exactly 5lbs 14oz each. What are the chances of that? For comparison the 10" 9mm is 7.5lbs and the 10.5" 5.56 is a chunky 8.5lbs. The 5.56 is heavy barreled and the 9mm uses a heavy buffer and bolt, being a blowback operated design. As fate would have it, as soon as I put shorter muzzle devices on a couple guns for easier backpackability, the motorcycle expired and I was forced to buy a car.  Around here individual counties have a lot of sway in lawmaking. | ||

I started throwing ammo into cans again. And getting a round count. I need to go dig some new caches because this is too many in one location. I thought about going and checking on some old caches I hid about 15 years ago.  | ||

It's a simple matter of the big city dwellers thinking they can dictate their policies to the peons everywhere else. If we are to have to have illegal sanctuary cities everywhere, why can we not have legal firearms sanctuaries everywhere? The inconsistency in way the Constitution is interpreted in different districts, counties, and cities is appalling. | ||

"Preppin' every day"? The term was mentioned on the patriot? thread. I hope everyone is taking notes on their range cards to include cameras. A thought, I have. If you only take out the cameras where you need to travel, it is like posting a bread crumb trail. How easily are you preppers followed? If you watch this enough: https://planefinder.net/ , it lets you know where the drones the Gov. uses for spying on US citizens are flying. I was able to find and identify the drones and where they were based during Ferguson riots. There should be enough footage to prosecute all the vandals. If you know when Crusty is leaving Australia, you can track him in real time. | ||

I went to our Virginia county board meeting today, where there was a session for the public to speak and most were about the board declaring a 2A sanctuary. The moderates spoke about following the law. I didn't stay until the very end, but the state legislature will need to follow the law by starting a constitutional amendment process to do away with that pesky "shall not be infringed" language. One of the anti's was a veteran who called ARs weapons of war, which I thought was interesting. | ||

Some veterans got out because they couldn't make it to the next rank. What I am saying while attempting no disrespect is in the military it takes all kinds. There are some that aren't thinkers but have the soul of a lion. A history lesson could do that brother some good. | ||

And some vets got in, because they had no choice - not because they had the drive to serve. Some (fewer and fewer remain now, though) were drafted; some, it was the only alternative to a...poorly chosen lifestyle, shall we say. It does truly take all kinds. What VA county was it? | ||

A friend of mine had a 1940 Luger action Mauser. It ended up under his reloading bench during a garage fire many years ago. He brought it into work and sold it to me for $75.00. It was a mess. The plastic grips were melted and it had flakes all over it. I disassembled it and cleaned it with WD-40 and 0000 steel wool. The bluing was still nice under all that crud. He had put it in a bag of used motor oil. I replaced the grips and took it out and it shot pretty well except for the toggle not completely shutting occasionally. I quit shooting it and put it in storage. The other day I decided to buy all new springs for it, thinking that if it was hot enough to melt the grips the springs might have annealed a bit. So I got the springs and I pulled out the main spring to replace it and this is what I found...  It might just work now! |
