Glory be to the most high God! And a little thanks to Erik and all the elves for Lil Red. Looks like it has already been as warm as it gets today. Should be about 40 today and tomorrow. 30 mph wind today and none tomorrow. The gluttens will gather tomorrow. I have gleaned enough wisdom through the years to go light on the food tomorrow. I will get my fill in the next week. Those that gather will allow me a moment of glory as I stab the beast with my steely knives then place a masterpiece before their eyes. They will devour the art and we will all be fed. Hugs and kind words will be served with an equal aplomb. They will all leave and my huney-bunches and I will rejoice. My only hope is that they do the dishes before they go. And I will sit and miss the one son that is working in Korea that others can enjoy a little peace. I'll reflect on how I actually enjoyed my time out of country and will say a prayer for those that struggle with being so far away on this "just another day" to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving OurDee. Sometimes we get caught up in drama and bad vibes, and forget everything we have to be thankful for!

I am flying with my dad to Littleton Colorado for the holiday. My mom passed in April 2017. I am thankful I can spend time with my dad and sisters family in a place I can see snow, but leave it there when I return back to Illinois.

Colorado, is a lovely State to visit. I rented a house at the base of Bolder Mountain for a week. Thoroughly enjoyed it. When the drama starts I just close my mouth and smile. I refuse to let it inside of me tomorrow. I will go make a coffee or tea and have a cookie. In an emergency my dog may need her daily walk around the block.

Ebutch, I apologize that you mistook this as a political thread. It is ....... not! May you have an old fashioned Thanks Giving with prayer and fasting. I will be thankful that there will be a warm place to gather and plenty of food for those that are able to attend here.

The dog puts a smile on everyone's face and keeps everyone in a good mood.

SAFE TRAVELS!!

I'll be working with heavy equipment (40hp diesel tractor/backhoe/loader/field deck), trying to update/renovate a house for sale. 2 acres with 8 years of tenant crap to clean up - unkept grass, downed trees to cut up and remove, fencing to unravel and remove, piles of yard debris in the middle of the field that needs to go away...

Woo.

Hoo.

Hope everyone has a better turkey day than I will.

Thanks for starting this one, RD. As far as Ed goes, I've begun wondering if his affliction isn't some type of Tourette's syndrome. He can't seem to help it.

Thanks to your kid for his honorable service. Thank you RD for raising your kids right.

As for me, Thanksgiving is a mixed bag. I'll be working a closing shift this evening, late, prepping and setting things up for tomorrow, a LOOONG day in the restaurant biz.
We're completely booked, open to close, opening at 11AM. It's one of the best money days of the year, but dang, it's long, and a lot of work for everyone. The best part for me is my managers have finagled a late 7:15 11 top for me, Marcia, and her fandamily. Both her kids and kids-in-law, grandkids, and such. I'll be whooped, but I'll be able to sit down myself and enjoy a fine dinner with my fine family. Plus I've managed to win/earn a nice pile of in-house credit to cover a good part of the bill. I believe I'll be having the chef's black grouper fish special.

After any long, double shift day like tomorrow, my bosses know to give me the next day off. Not sure what's on the agenda, but we'll be spending it with M's daughter and son-in-law visiting from Tampa. My vote is to brave the crowds and head to downtown Knoxvegas. They set up a skating rink in Market Square, there will be free concerts, all kinds of stuff going on.

Years ago I did a nice smoked turkey for us and our neighbors, who were planning a move to Arkansas. Still remember that deliciousness...

Lastly, thanks to all my friends here, for just being yourselves. Family, fandamily, comes in many forms other than blood. Bless you all.

I was writing that missive, just caught yours, Joe. At the end of the day, you'll at least have the sweet satisfaction of work well done. I hope you at least spend some time later in good company, with a great meal.

I'm wishing all a happy holiday and that we all can take a minute to reflect on our own lives to find and appreciate what we have to be thankful for.

Joe, I don't feel bad for you too much, not because I'm working also. But because of the good fortune that you have a rental house and more, beyond a beautiful home.

My family has become independently scattered about, none participating in sucking the life out of what always had been a fantastic tasting bird.

Even though I'm in a position in my life, I have plenty to be thankful for. I'm turning the page to an opportunity to once again kick some ass in the business community.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite Holiday. It is purely American. Of Americans, for Americans, by Americans. And I mean this going back to pre 1776. Not about politics, it is about America as my home.

It's tough this year. My own family is either dead or dead to me, I'm away from my immediate family for the first time in almost a couple decades, I miss my son, and my girlfriend's family operates on a dynamic that I am very unaccustomed to.

I'm thankful for my heath and to still be here...and for the few people in this world that still have some love for me.

I will eat one and a half times more than my average daily caloric needs allow, then help pick up...and do the dishes.

Hopefully someone does your dishes you sumbitch.

I'm living with the greatest love of my life, so I really can't whine too much.

That looks good. Meijers in Indiana is selling their bottom line turkeys for $0.33 a pound. So poor families can get a bird for Tday. Local ran out of cheap birds and subbed higher end birds at 33 cents.

We're having ham this year. I'm making a special glaze using some of the maple syrup that Froggy brought down for me at Buelltoberfest.

We'll be giving thanks for good friends, and praying for those who are braver than me. My young son in law who is in Iraq or Syria, he's not allowed to really tell us. Our eldest daughter, his wife - is with us at home.

It will be a nice calm day, most of the drama-prone people are somewhere else this year... so we'll be thankful for that as well.

I ran through there earlier and saw a lady loading 6 on them in her cart. I didn't want her embarrassed at the cash register and let her know they were limit 1 per customer.
