I know it's an invasive species, a suckering type, and it's a threat to my beloved Smokies. Got one next to my deck, I let it grow thinking it was a walnut. Oops.
Got about a dozen and a half half dollar size holes around it- wondering if that has anything to do with the root system.
That looks like fun, Matthew, but that wouldn't do it. This damn thing throws "suckers" all over, don't know how it does it so far from the main tree. Anywhere I look in my yard, I'll see little pale baby trees popping up- I pull them as soon as I see them.
Hate to say it Figor, but I've let it grow to about 40' by now. Gonna have to call in a tree service to take it down. Hoping to coordinate with a neighbor or two to give the tree guy a day of work in the same area, work a group discount that way.
Two- I once had a "princess" tree, next to the house, too close- used this stuff called "Big & Tough" in heavy doses on the stump. Long gone now, gonna use that stuff on this tree once it's cut.
