I have to weld my mower every week it seems. So, I got a back up mower tonight. I use a 10 hp Snapper with a 28 inch cut. My back up snapper also has a 28 inch cut. But someone slipped a v-twin 16 hp engine into it. |

The last room to get bamboo flooring will be my office. I have been making very slow progress with the 90 degree temps. I do the cutting in the drive outside the garage. Between the heat and my old knees I'm not fast. I had to strengthen the shelf and rod in the spare bedroom closet.
Then on to removing the carpet, glued down pad, tack strips, and trim.
I have to work in 3' strips do to all the furniture. |

...I've got a rental apartment that needs kitchen cabinets, when you get done... |

It's a rental. They don't need cabinets. The new counter tops template should be here this week. I have a porcelain sink out back that is going in. We are painting the oak cabinets. The lowers will be Egyptian Violet and the uppers will be a cream color called Willow Springs. The counter tops are Blue Flower Granite, a high definition textured formica. I have to fill and re-drill the drawers for the new hardware, a wavy stainless handle. We decided on a commercial style faucet that hangs in a big spring. Similar to what you see in the kitchen of a restaurant. |

While looking at a Moen kitchen faucet I think I've come up with the new bathroom sink setup. Hands free tall faucet that can pull out and a near clear glass basin on plank style counter top. Maybe the planks will be grain elevator worn wood. |

I think I can put a single trim ring on the base of the Moen faucet. |

The rental doesn't need NICE cabinets...but it needs SOME. Right now? Empty room, tile floor, plumbing stub-ups, a fridge, a range...and a wall-mount microwave sitting on the floor. Good news is, it's a small kitchen (relatively - functional, but not "spacious") so not a lot of cabinets needed. Bad news is...it's an old building (1951) so it's not "normal" sized. Either things won't "fit", or there'll be end-gaps...or I'll build custom ends/spacers. But yes, it's a rental. No granite, no concrete (although I've considered it), no porcelain sink...flat-panel doors (maybe shaker), formica countertops, double-well stainless sink. Builder-spec stuff. |

Look on Market Place. You may be surprised. I picked up the porcelain sink for $40. I don't like stainless unless they are commercial. |

New counters are coming. Tracey decided to paint the cabinets.
My office is the last room for bamboo.
Makes me sore putting that stuff in.
Now to start removing the junk from the treasure. |

I just got lucky. I rode my X1 to halfway to work this morning and popped the belt. I was 7 miles from home. Recently, I rode over to Try NY for the barbecue fest. If it popped on that trip on a Sunday, oof! |

I always carry a spare belt on longer trips. It stays in the top case. I buy a new belt and run it for 1,000 miles then put the old belt back on. The 1,000 miler will be the spare till breakage. Then I repeat. I re-used the trim in my office. I will put some fancy ornate wood trim in the master bedroom. The bathroom won't take much. The main part of the house only has about 12' to go. I am trying to weed out my junk still. And I have 4" x 8' of plaster to do, and 2 corners to mud. |

Fun, fun, fun today. I am not impressed with bang out sink holes.
Chop sticks hold enough spacing to make sure silicon completely seals the sink edge.
Washing out my $40 cast iron porcelain sink and testing the drain pipes.

I used a little plumber's putty in the drain and got the drip to go away.
That color is called Egyptian Violet. The upper doors and cabinets are going to be an off white. |

Repairing where I widened the door opening to 49".
A couple more passes with the mud should have it ready for paint.
Some of my time is going to rebuilding the antique bedroom set in the guest room. It is almost finished. I remember playing on the old bed when I was 2 or 3. The headboard is a wagon wheel and the foot board is a double yoke. For a 3 year old the wagon wheel was the wheel of a pirate's sailing ship. Oh well, one more day of glueing. Yes it does have a new mattress and box springs. |

Looking great, my friend. Tomorrow I have to lower our new bed frame by at least 2-3", Rocky is looking like Evel Knievel trying Snake Canyon. D'Ogee has no problem with the bed, but now he thinks he's playing King Of The Hill. M's not amused. |

Back to the house grind. I wake up at work. CORELUXE Engineered Vinyl Plank Flooring in Natural Maple for the main bathroom. Didn't take long to trim that room.
It was still hot in the attic this morning. Tracey wanted a light in the ceiling vent. Original unit had a larger hole in the sky. Looks like I'll be mudding again.
Put the range hood back up too. Looks like time to use that shower to get the attic off me. |

What'd you pay for that vinyl flooring? Our local Habitat ReStore has a lot of that on hand, looks like nice stuff. |
