Which is great, but...the implications of what's going on in the news, and with our great nation, will affect us all. We need to pay attention, and make sure we do our part come election time.
We need to pay attention.
This is not an exercise, and there's no "reset" button.
I agree, Joe. The point is we need to refresh, disengage from the perpetual cycle of "news", whatever you choose to believe. Gardening is very peaceful. (After the tilling's over. ) Riding our motorcycles helps shut down the dreck. Anything that brings you peace instead of agitation/"news".
For you and me, fire up some tunes. Peacefulness can be scarce nowadays.
I agree wholeheartedly - we need to find our center, and keep ourselves balanced.
But.
Ignorance and complacency simply can't be allowed or excused anymore. We can't just sit and see if red or blue wins an election, and all it means is whose face we see on the screen for 4 years. This...is big. This is not party-line differences, this is not "leaning" this way or that, this is literally the fate of the longest-lived free Republic in the history of mankind. If you don't believe that, or don't understand it, then you haven't been paying attention - not a slight at you personally Brad, but a general statement about today's situation, and today's people.
This is a good group of people here on Badweb, and we're all pretty aware. We need to make sure all our friends and family and neighbors are ALSO aware, and ALSO doing their research, and ALSO making sure they know what's going on in the world. I am genuinely afraid that if we don't pay attention now when we're on the tipping point...peaceful moments will be few and far between, if at all, in the future.
And I agree - that makes all the more reason to relax when you can. Just don't forget to do your part when the time comes.
Me...I get to "detach" for a few hours on Saturday, got an outdoor concert to do after the day job. The venue always yells at us for being over 74dB (my MICROWAVE makes 74dB!)...but the crowd always loves us!
There is a joke video where they use an old toy commercial for a ripcord powered wheel that has a kid launch one, then cut to the above video.
I remember them, but to get the name, I had to try to look them up, no luck, they are a variation of the old Kenner SSP cars. Except this just launched a rubber & metal wheel at mach speed.
I also found "beyblades" that use the rack & pinion plastic pull handle to spin up an anime based you top. Or actually a toy top that an anime was made for selling. ( and a rack & pinion spinner for those spinner fidget toys that were popular for like 7 months. The local gas station was trying to sell them for silly money, like $25 then they lost popularity and went for $2 )
I got hung up freaking out at the EBay prices for the vintage Kenner SSP toys. I can grok the collector mania for practically anything, and toys that are especially rare because of limited time in production make sense. 1970-78 in case you're interested. And these are rarer yet, since they were high speed projectiles that got launched indoors into furniture. Cherry examples must be few. But $50 for an old toy caught me by surprise, even though I should know better.
Also... I never had one since my parents were too smart to buy ME indoor projectile toys. I made up for that with lawn darts, boomerangs, and later Estes rockets & U control planes. Not to mention a life long kite obsession from Malayan fighting kites to man carrying ones.
Re: brain freeze. Caused by constriction of the capillaries in the noggin. Then there's nitroglycerin, used for angina, gives you a brain freeze like headache by dilation of the capillaries in the noggin.
So, I asked, what if I eat ice cream fast & take nitro?
