An acquaintance of mine is an aircraft designer with a world record history. https://www.bydanjohnson.com/sunseeker-duo-ultimat e-solar-electric-aircraft/ https://www.solar-flight.com When he flew over the Alps in the Sunseeker Duo, I heard the news and called him to congratulate, and he remembers me from forever ago when he was a local pilot with an experimental wing. As was I, but not as pretty.  The wings, I mean. There's no contest on the personal good looks. ( and if you've seen his wife you know who wins. ) Setting any kind of record, fastest hovercraft, first across America, anything really at the edge, require dedication and drive and some crazy. Folk like that make for a great planet. | ||

I guess it's harder when the government wants to micro-manage everything to the point of nonexistence, and then take credit for what's left over. Humans are amazing. All they need is a little natural incentive to do great things. Survival of the fittest, as it were. God bless those who are not free, that they will one day become as we are. compare the wikipedia articles, "timeline of Russian innovation" to "timeline of United States innovation". Seriously, the speeds on hover-crafts and mono-wheels are low. I am willing to drive and sign waivers. Crud, I can ballance a two wheeled streamliner laying on my back, if need be. Worth to note karts are no longer permitted at USFRA events… Safety concerns apparently. The record was in the 140s. I still want to run one past 200. | ||

FWIW, if anyone's looking for a GREAT movie to watch, look up "Up Side". Seriously, one of the best films I've seen in the past decade. Brian Cranston, Kevin Hart, Nicole Kidman... all the supporting actors knocked it out of the park to boot. Great screenplay, great directing. I'll be buying that for my permanent collection. | ||

Nothing about that chick is American. Uniform, weapon, AR670-1, etc. I had typed a paragraph about women serving in the armed forces. Regardless of what I say it will sound chauvinistic to those who have not experienced it first hand. Women have their place in the army, but 99% of them don't belong in a gun fight.
