I've always loved the XR400's! Had a buddy that could ride a wheelie forever on his. If I could get the extra scratch for a D/S, I've love one for the trails around here. The same weekend we all met in Suches there was a HUGE annual D/S shindig in Tellico Plains.
Nate- my old boss has built a fleet of dirt Sportsters, most all of them look very cool and pretty capable on non-technical offroad stuff. He's got some Youtube of him wiping out somewhere south of Maryville...
Got a new track toy. Little Yamaha RT 100. I've probably turned a hundred laps with it already. (At least 50, I'm to busy grinning to count.). Brand new front tire, bald back tire. Even with that the front has washed out a half dozen times.....and THAT is the point of the little bike. Perfect for practicing recovery from that kind of stuff.
That looks like an 80's Yammie. When I was a little boy I vacillated between Yamaha and Suzuki. I grew up a Suzuki kid, given to my punk miscreant friends. To this day I still wish for a RS250 or 400. There was an RM465. The more common ones were labeled PE.
Basically, it's a DT-1 with an updated seat and tank. I never knew Yamaha made them until I saw this one for sale. My very first motorcycle was a 1978 Yamaha DT-100, again, an updated DT-1. So there is some sentimental attachment as well I suppose.
I remember stopping in the Yamaha dealership on Church street in Nashville as a kid and drooling over the DT series. I could've been a Yammie kid, ended up a Suzook kid.
Someone made change for me the other day, gave me back $4.65... seems I remembered there was an RM465.
