Gonna head out shortly and spend a little $ on dinner at a local blues bar- open mic night, great weather (for now) and bring home some chicken wings for my honey, per her RQ.
Last year, I spent Christmas at my very generous friends' horse farm. Christmas morning they were frying up a huge pile of tasty breakfast meats. I mad a bacon sandwich but (BRILLIANT) I used scrapple instead of bread to put it on. Yum.
It tasted even better than it looks. I wrapped the tenderloin with a whole pound of thick sliced bacon and held it in place with toothpicks. Then I slathered it with Montgomery Inn Chipotle BBQ sauce. I baked it for 45 minutes, then turned it and slathered more sauce on it. Another 15 minutes and it came out of the oven. it sat for a 5 minute cool down, then I sliced off a rather large portion and gave my taste buds a preview of Nirvana.
It's easy to make and tastes very, very good. I recommend it.
I've always been sad for Jews and Muslims, simply because they can't eat pork. NO BBQ? So sad.
Not all Jews! I have a good friend that's Jewish and also a BBQ judge! A beer judge too! He figured God made that a rule because of the dangers of pork back then which is no longer the issue now. He showed up at a beer tasting with candied bacon! Mmmmmm!
SO glad to hear that, Greg. Given that there are gobs of great BBQ places across this nation, to think of not stopping at Jim's in N. GA, or Martin's in Nashvegas, or that gas station just east of Cookeville for some pulled pork, that just pains my soul. Not to mention the fantastic products of Allan Benton, just down the road from me.
Here ya go... these guys also have a song, "8 Piece Box"- they'll throw fried chicken out into the audience with that one.
