It's about an 8 hour drive for us to get to the Ruffner's residence... planning to leave home around 0500 so we can take our time and see a few sights... so should be there around 3-ish | ||

  ... Yay me! Just got the new brushes installed for my alternator, buttoned up, started right up! Of course, as I type this a huge storm is heading right at me. Shakedown ride Monday, new rear tire a day or 2 after that. Yeehaa! | ||

Got a lot done today - Dropped $400 on a set of Angels for the Uly. Will take the wheels in to get them mounted in the morning. Forgot I stripped the wheels to de-paint.. never happened. The rear wheel is re-assembled and I decided to pop the dust seals and grease the bearings. Very easy, the inner lip is quite forgiving. Front and rear looked good, no water or rust, still a good amount of white grease. All four are re-packed, now. SKF black dust-covers. Tomorrow morning I will finish prepping the front and get it re-assembled and fitted with new rubber. I was worried about 3k miles on my current tires... every simulation came up "No Way". BTW, this Kawi shop has an 08 Uly with a bunch of farkles for 3999. 53k miles IIRC Don't remember if it came with the "Comfort Kit", but it has it. Drummer exhaust, pannier brackets, luggage unknown, ram mount for a device that connects via mini-DIN etc. See y'all in a few days!! Z | ||

Dangit, Vern! Let's giterduun! Well, not sure I solved the charging problem after a quick run out and back for errands. Gonna hand the thing over to a very capable mechanic for a tire change and checkup. All it takes is money.  | ||

Finished my final prep today. Got the wheels swapped with fresh rubber and rebuilt the forks. Hopefully no leaks this time. Forgot to tighten the caliper bolts.. lost one bolt, didn't drop the caliper and die, yay. Stole a bolt from Loretta's front caliper and all is good again. Ready to ride! Z | ||

Well... dang. Got the BMW at my mechanic's, just had to order a new alternator rotor, bye bye $125. Already in for $150 for the rear tire, things here and there cropping up. Glad to have my guy go through the bike, but my moolah's moving quick... ouch. The next week is closing in quick! | ||

Well have a great time out there. I had planned on posting some pictures of me at the Sacramento Mile this Saturday, but it got rain rescheduled for August 10th. Now I'm trying to figure out how to see both the Mile and the MotoAmerica race at Sonoma Raceway the same weekend. | ||

Just got a call from Oz666 that he can't make it. Something about he's too old and Memorial Day weekend and Final Destination... That throws my plans into question. Anybody that's going, want to split a room? Don said it's Route66 Inn complex, I expect in Springfield. Half of $130 for Sat/Sun nights. If not, I'll cancel the room and camp. Found my tent this morning. I hate the last couple of days before a trip..... Z | ||

Yowzah. My trip will depend on what my mechanic tells me, and\or what it'll cost me. Kinda skeered, we shall see. Had to spend unexpected $$$ recently on both of our dogs due to horrible allergies this year. My honey traveled to northern OH and back recently, told me horror stories of potholes on the interstates. I'm planning to mainly use secondary highways. Be advised, be wary, riders. Thought my $13 alternator fix and a new rear tire would get me there... we shall see. Please standby. | ||

I'm still on target. Going to install new grips and cables today, but that is it. I have an oil cooler that I want to install, but modifying the oil circuit 3 days before an epic ride does not sound like the best plan, so I'll install it when I get back.
