And I’m here to say that XR isn’t about the climate. You see, the climate’s breakdown is a symptom of a toxic system of that has infected the ways we relate to each other as humans and to all life. This was exacerbated when European ‘civilisation’ was spread around the globe through cruelty and violence (especially) over the last 600 years of colonialism, although the roots of the infections go much further back.
The infection of Western Civilization.
Eastern Civilization, otoh, became the ultimate bureaucracy. Value of human life less than zero. Divine rulers like the Emperors of China and Japan. God King Xi who is being taught as an object of worship in concentration camps for Muslims. And enforced by Social Media Oppression. buy dog food, lose status. Show contempt for the God King's Divine Wisdom? No train ticket for you! No car, no loans, no mercy.
Black Mirror and The Orville offered the horror movie & parody of the Downvoting of humanity by Total Social Society. The boot on the face of mankind, forever.
From the above link... Like the Dems, XR also plans to replace the current political system with a "better democracy." However, the XR plan outdoes the Dems' plan by proposing a democracy in which voting is no longer needed.
I was aware of Lorenz's work. It's nice to see It vindicated.
Back in my college days I kept a weather cube radio ( Radio Shack ) in my van and was much like the socal surfers, chasing predictions of good wave conditions to surf. In my case the sky, and the waves were miles high, but the mentality of following the temporary and fleeting phenomenon is the same.
To this day, you can't get an accurate prediction a week out with the detail needed to plan ahead.
Second, the answer is to give the world ( who we supposedly owe a Trillion. ) our Student loan debt. Also roughly a trillion.
But no legal mechanism how billions of people can collect a penny from American college grads & drop outs.
"the world" isn't owed a dime from our nation for treaties we never ratified. And how we are to pay, and who, is deliberately unclear.
So if we can't offer them college loan debt as money ( the foundation of the Real Estate Crisis, and a scam never ended ) then give everyone on the planet a coupon for $130 off on White Tower burgers.
“recent advances in climate science make it possible to link the damage associated with an extreme weather event to emissions from an individual country.” and “They credibly find that emissions from the United States made the heat wave in 2013 and 2014 28-34 percent more likely,”
One of the funny things about being a history buff & Cassandra, is while I spend too much time pointing out the danger of evil men using fake religions to steal power and wealth, I also have an optimistic view.
Yes, socialism is a death cult of lies that murdered more civilians than cancer in the 20th century. Yes, because of a cultist education system and media, we may suffer a million casualties in the counter revolution in America in my lifetime.
But it's not all doom & gloom.
As the TED talks above show, we have the ability to both greatly slow our use of irreplaceable fossils fuels, create cheap power and thus vast wealth, and solve the problems of nuclear waste disposal.
The vast wealth created by American ingenuity, built upon the decaying foundation of dead Europeans ( many who fled to America to escape the socialist death squads ) gave western civilization the wealth & leisure to care about the environment and clean up our messes. The rest of the planet has a ways to go, but a quick study of South American countries shows that when the death cult is resisted, freedom and clean water follow. ( unfortunately it also shows the reverse, see the richest country in the continent just a few years ago, today )
And destruction is always faster than building. Theft is quicker than work.
But we know how to work. We now know that we need to work hard on making everyone richer, by work, to clean up the planet. And we know the Climate is going to be fine if we use our technology wisely to create cheap, abundant power. ( wealth creation needs power. The cleaner & cheaper, the better. )
If course, we still have to deal with the death cult of lying thieves, otherwise they will steal all the wealth and make us all poor slaves in an open sewer of toxic waste.
But we can do that, too, if we put our minds to it.
Mankind may yet save the plants! Earth in the Balance!
A lack of CO2 will kill The plants and thus all life on Earth! Only Man's ( and Woman's etc. ) efforts can save life on Earth!
The good news is even if we run out of fossil fuels in the next million years, ( quite possible ) we should be able to save the planet with our renewable and inexhaustible supply of dishonest politicians. We can burn them at the stake and never run out.
Meatless Mondays. But only for thee, not for me. The Mayor will continue his daily routine, no doubt including steak and lobster Monday after his convoy returns from his gym.
And I'm not sure if I should believe the charge that the purpose is to destroy the productive farm land so the coastal elite rich can move there, I assume to escape the smell of human feces in their streets full of too expensive houses.
But I do like fish. So we should immediately release all the water in all the reservoirs, and then open all the dams, maybe just install doors, ( just in case this policy is unwise and needs to be reversed... I'm not stupid, like Nancy is. ) and let the water system return to it's natural state.
Yes, the coastal cities will need to build desalination plants, powered by nuclear energy to avoid CO2 emissions, or abandon the hateful, artificial, cities where there will be no drinking, washing, or lawn sprinkling water. They aren't natural, anyway.
In just a few years, if no modern, clean nuclear desalination plants are built, the population will drop enough the the census will reduce the number of Congressmen from CA, and change the political equation for a time.
I'm sure a land of sanctuary cities and ultra progressive policies can handle the temporary crisis of cities without running water and sewage, or power, just like their beloved Venezuela.
Or maybe the cities won't survive, and that's ok too, since the folk there all exhale CO2. A California with a population a third of today's would pollute much less, and not have the fatality rates during the annual fires!
Of course, the pessimistic, engineering side of me thinks it's a horrible idea, that would kill millions of people, burn the cities, ( no water, remember? ) finish destroying prime agricultural production, just so rich people can fish for salmon, closer to the homes in walled enclaves overlooking the San Francisco ruins. But who listens to rational thoughts when emotions don't need math?
Why? We’ve only got 10 years until civilization ends. They should welcome a relatively quick, albeit painful, death. It’ll be better than choking on greenhouse gases in the aftermath.
