So, I'm watching TV with my coffee this morning and caught another ad from Google, about "be in the moment" and "Do Not Disburb is on" while a guy does pushups with his infant kid. Been seeing a lot of ads about that lately - one where people are driving and they push Do Not Disturb, one where they train "distraction dogs" - all pushing the DND feature. Makes me wonder what Google is collecting through the devices while DND is toggled? Does that turn on the device mic? Do they log usage patterns (such as "this is when they sleep") that could potentially be harvested (or "hacked")? I find it hard to believe Google would be advertising a feature simply out of goodness, and helping people "enjoy their lives more". Wonder what they get out of it? |
