I'd be up for the cafe, though I'm not 100% on what my plans for Monday (after the mile) through Wednesday will be. I might be taking the ferry the across Lake Michigan that morning
Oh, they've got food there at the museum, and it looked pretty good, but I decided the premium for the ambiance was a bit steep. Besides, I don't really fit in with the flaming skull & bandanna crowd anyway.
Yes, there is still room! We can have up to 20 participants in our BTS tour.
For participants beyond the original 12, they can be added before we get to the museum or when we get there. The only thing is - similar to the original 12 - all the additional participants will have to be paid for by 1 form of payment. Once we're all paid, then the tickets will be printed out.
So...will we be able to fill 8 (7 in addition to Save_ferris)?
For those outside of the original 12, what's the preference for making payment - now/before we get there, or once we get there?
And Ourdee wonders why he gets the notifications he does...
I'd like to have to bother the museum about making payment the minimum number of times possible. So, it may end up being that Save_ferris might end up paying on the spot - at the museum, Ourdee, at the museum...
Unless we can rustle up participants to get us up to 20 in advance of showing up. Then we might want to pony up at that time, I'd reckon.
So, is there anyone else who will want to join us?
I'm considering. I need to check on a few things first though. I'm confused about the payment to Harley. Don't we just give them the $400ish amount and then show up with 12-20 people? Also, has there been any communication to Harley that on the tour we'd like to see the Buell bikes and memorabilia they may have back there?
It's good to hear that there are some more interested parties.
Want to, yes. Able to, unfortunately not. That is, indeed, unfortunate! I was hoping that you would be able to join us John!
Don't we just give them the $400ish amount and then show up with 12-20 people? Thanks for asking this important question. I guess I never discussed this in detail. The minimum # of participants to get the group (museum general admission) entrance pricing of $14 (instead of $20) is 12. The maximum group size for the private BTS tour is 20. For 12 - 20 participants, the group museum general admission cost is $14, while the added cost for the BTS tour is $20 per participant. So, for 12 - 20 participants the total cost is $34 per participant. The only reason we were discussing total costs above $34 was if we had less than the minimum 12 participants to qualify as a group, the costs would have to be shared over a smaller number of participants. And, yes, I've already paid $408 to reserve the BTS tour for the first 12 participants. Any further payment would be only for any participants beyond the first 12.
Also, has there been any communication to Harley that on the tour we'd like to see the Buell bikes and memorabilia they may have back there? Thank you also for asking this question. This was one of my first questions. Unfortunately the answer I got was "Sorry we do not edit our tour scripts to fit a particular group, but if your group are all Buell enthusiasts, there will be plenty to keep them interested. They are welcome to ask questions." While it is unfortunate that they can't/won't tailor our BTS tour to Buell, since we can ask questions, I would think we could ask questions to lead the tour to focus on Buells. From my previous visits to the museum, there were always decent quantities of Buells in the racks - which I believe is part of the BTS tours as they are not accessible during a typical general admission visit. I can dig up some of my pictures from these visits, but manipulating the images so I can post them here takes a fair amount of time. I'm sure that taking this BTS tour with a bunch of like-minded Buell enthusiasts will definitely be a memorable experience no matter how many Buells we'll see during the tour.
Please let me know if there are any other questions - or if I overlooked any.
As for those above the original 12, I would like to minimize the number of times I approach the museum for further payment. I guess that means we should put a convenient cut off date for Save_ferris and Twirlin and anyone else who is able to tag along. That seems to be the best compromise.
How does payment (to the previously identified PayPal addy) by May 15th? That should give me plenty of time to do a one time increase in participants.
For folks arriving for HC 2019 early in the week of May 27th: When will you arrive, where will you plan to stay? I can call the local (East Troy) Quality Inn and Suites and request a rate for a group, but I know they usually ask "How many?". So I'll start: How many?
The good news is that we've collected the whole set, errrr... I mean we've got the original 12 paid for. So my initial investment is covered, FWIW, or for whoever cares...
The "huh?" news is that I haven't seen anything from Twirlin. Be careful - there are a couple of letters missing (thanks to the # of characters Wisconsin would allow on their plates way back in 1990-something). DEDSLD at YAHOO dot COM If nothing else, maybe this pic will help:
No hurries, no worries - unless you sent it to the wrong recipient...
