Although not at peak performance I feel better today then I have in a while. (better living through chemicals ) The pressure isn't as bad and that's lovely. I've got the follow up on Tuesday I believe. The first two days were the worst. Glad I could drag y'all along, it made things better. Thanks everyone, Ann and I both appreciate everything! I hope they let me carry on soon, I've got a brandy new CZ P07 to break in!
The post op appointment went really well! He's feeling soooooooo much better now that the stitches and splint have been removed. He got a good vacuuming out too, removing a bunch of clotted blood and other ickiness that had settled in post op. He goes back in 3 weeks for "scoping and cleaning". I'm assuming that will be exactly what it sounds like.
I know we've said over and over and over and over again, but we're gonna keep on saying it - his care team of doctors absolutely rock! I thought at one point Dr. Hoddeson was gonna get all weepy, just going on and on about how excited he was that he has been with Glitch from the beginning and to see how far he's come, when they were all kinda "hangin' by the water cooler" back in 2014 asking, "Is this guy gonna make it?" He said he's so thankful to have been part of helping Glitch not only get better physically, but assisting him to a better quality of life. His exact words were "he's probably gonna feel better than he has in 30 years". It's called "continuity of care", and he said doctors don't get to experience it that often.
Each time we see him, we have to marvel at how we all came together on November 3, 2014 when we all got dragged down the rabbit hole of near death and emergency brain surgery and coma and seizures and rehab and how amazing it is to be on "this side". He said that had we not had Dr. Hartman (his neurosurgeon - a maverick, a rebel. Who caught a lot flack from his "peers" for his radical surgery that he performed that saved Glitch's life. He just kinda told them all " off - you weren't there") back in 2014, he would have life flighted Glitch somewhere else.
Divine intervention. Miracle. Call it what you like. Thank God, the spaghetti monster or whatever deity you choose to worship. All I can tell you is I (we) have witnessed first hand the alignment of great things. When we needed THE person to walk through the door, THE person walked through the door. From the first admitting nurse, to neurosurgeon, ENT, pulmonologist, infectious disease specialist, team of nurses, neurologist, physical and occupational therapists - they were ALL - and ARE -Fan-Damn-Fabulous.
Thank you so much for the cards and encouragements! They have helped so much more than I can ever express. Physical ailments are the easy part to treat, mend or medicate. The human spirit though can only be helped by knowing someone is "out there" that cares, and always, always, always has your back.
Thanks everyone. Still in pain, but manageable. I've been enjoying these days with my grand-daughter. She's awesome! There's no way I can feel bad with her around.
Y'all, Ann is the best, I'm one lucky fella! She's been taking care of me, thick and thin. I've been a handful once or twice, and she still loves me. At the first of the year, she took me to Postmodern Jukebox. I've got to think of something special for her after all this is over. Buellish, CZ P07 indeed! Indeed!
Awesome post! SO glad to hear you're on da mend, Sir Hare. Or Papaw Hare.
I must observe and say- you've got 10# of cute in a 5# sack there!! But PLEASE, easy peasy, find a Buell sticker to replace the Disney one on that walker.
OK friends, see if you can crank the prayer/mojo factory back up- my sister's half-brother in Fayetteville AR has recently, abruptly been admitted to the hospital there with severe headaches... turns out they found 15 cancer tumors throughout his brain. He'd felt fine the day before, then, POW.
The doctors are planning to go after two of the biggest tumors, which are on his fronltal lobe, to drain the cysts and alleviate pressure. As of this writing he's on life support and a ventilator, in and out of consciousness.
After Anne's glowing testimony as to Glitch's medical team, I'd like to get some contact info. I know they're in GA, while her brother is in AR, but folks can consult worldwide nowadays.
Any weeknight I'm off, I'm tuning in to Jeopardy. I generally hate Wheel of Nausea, the clues are vague to misleading, and whatshisname the host is smarmy to the point of me wanting to punch him. Trebek is the epitome of class act, I've always appreciated him. Dude broke his ankle not long ago chasing/catching a thief, now this- stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
I tried out online a couple of years ago to make the show, and dang if I'm not dumber than I look. I believe I'll try again, but now my odds are much crappier. God but I love that show!
My advantages are (1) I read faster than most humans,(2) strange facts lodge in my mind over time that I don't remember generally and (3) with luck, I can guess almost 2/3 of the answers. And, (4), I've ridden with most all of you Badwebber miscreants. With my spedredding and my reaction times, I just gotta get smarter.
