Steve Natt shared this on Facebook and since many of you aren't there I figured I'd share this link here for you. All credits on the Vimeo page: https://vimeo.com/318548377 |

Man . . . what a great video and there are some REALLY smart, and dedicated, folks there. I was amazed in 1987. I'm amazed in 2019. |

I found it rather sad, knowing what was and what it could have been! What a waste! |

Feels like watching the crew of the Challenger smiling and proudly strolling across the gantry boarding the shuttle.
Gives me a knot in my stomach. |

Yeah, my comment to Steve when he posted it was: "And shortly afterward that MONUMENTAL IDIOT Keith Wandell pulled the plug on the whole thing." |

Great video, thanks for sharing. Takes me back to my day at Barber, full of tech seminars, and four track sessions... one of the best "work" days of my life. More than a tad melancholy setting in... also forgot they'd named the new platform "Loki". That's the name of my dearly departed Basenji, good dog. |

I still have all the very FIRST Loki concept notebooks all stamped CONFIDENTIAL . . . from when we sneaked away to an off site location so even people at Buell and HD would not know what was going on. |

It was kind of 'funny' when I was in York and met Mike Eatough. He said he "was out at Buell a couple weeks back". When I asked him what he was there for, he coldy replied "I can't tell you." I was a little shocked by his response at the time, but then a little while later it all made sense... |

Thanks for posting that. Advanced ideas that still are ahead of their time. I still love what my Ulysses can do. Following the Buell Motorcycle Company as a proud owner and customer, watching as they grew and advanced motorcycling, was probably one of the best periods of my adult life. Something so positive to believe in, and get to be a part of by owning, studying, and caring for the machine, in knowing what you've got is something special, that this kind of thing does not come along often. These machines made me get out and root for the good folks who made them for me. From the engineering people ten years smarter than I could ever be, the racers advancing and testing and winning to do the brand proud, to those who built them and sold them. Go team! They were that inspirational. I think of all of those who have become my friends through this same feeling of understanding what we have been able to experience through these extraordinary machines. Thank you Buell Motorcycle Company. You are still appreciated. |
