I, like hundreds of millions in my country, started pushing a mop as a teen. Flipping burgers convinced me that getting at least a High school diploma was the minimum requirement to get a job not as greasy, boring, and back breaking. And like millions of Americans, I moved up the ladder to better pay, less dirt under my nails, and more paperwork. Not as fast as I might have liked, but that hasn't changed since a glass blower apprentice spent years in a hot shop in Venice before he moved to the window seats and created wonders for the customers. Faster, cleaner, & better than 16th century blacksmiths could hope for now, but "paying your dues" will always be a resented, but real, path to bettering yourself. The point is rich, evil men ( And women, Sandy and Maxine ) tell the ignorant that those who are "above" them are keeping them down, so the rich, evil men can steal the wealth of those who work for a living. And a century of corruption & destruction of the school system creates a vast number of ignorant tools to so exploit. And since economics is no longer a classroom subject, but a cult of personality for the rich, the dividing lines evil men use to steal from us are now sexual preferences, skin color, clothing. Anything, really, to divide and conquer. | ||

Local super rich guy, the classic American Dream, founded Paychex, has the children's wing at the Major local Hospital named after him, left, loudly announcing he was moving because of high taxes. There is some minor local controversy that doesn't overshadow his reputation as a billionaire philanthropist. He was building a Beverly hills style super mansion in the Finger lakes, the best of the best of the best marble & plumbing. Quite the lovely house, I am told, and allegedly stiffed local contractors when he abandoned the State, and the project, in what seems to be a family tiff with spoiled brat children. There are rumours of bitter "divorce like" pettiness with the kids that expected the mansion to be their play house, and daddy not approving the Ermine toilet seats..... But that's tabloid trash except to the stiffed contractors and their families. The important part is the rich are leaving for cheaper, better weather, and lower crime states. To the tune of Billions in lost revenue to the Emperor's slush fund to reward his bribers. | ||

Gattaca... Great movie! Easy enough to be a borrowed ladder at this stage of the game if they start giving preference on DNA tests. Seems very odd to me though. If I get tested and find I'm 95% white, but 5% _____ (fill in a desired minority), isn't this pretty much nothing but "cultural appropriation" to call myself that minority? I had a '64 VW Beetle way back when. I found that it shared a few parts with Porsche, and certainly shared a good portion of the engineering. You would be laughed at and scorned for trying to pass it off as a Porsche though. Especially if you are advertising it on Craigslist as a Porsche. |
