This just kills me. We're told the science is settled. The Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age have been scrubbed from the records. Then we have scientist studying climate, making reference to these things. In the Pacific no less. One of the reasons given for scrubbing the LIA from the records was because it was just a regional thing in the North Atlantic. (Proven BS BTW) Funny thing though, they talk about matching what they are seeing to predictive models. I wonder what data they are using to model the LIA in the Pacific Ocean when it has been removed from the official records.
The Medieval Warm Period was a period lasting between the 9th and 12th centuries during which Earth’s climate leaned on the warmer side.
It was followed not long after by the Little Ice Age, which lasted from the 16th through 19th century, though some argue it began even earlier.
According to researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Harvard University, this long-ago cooling period could still be showing its face in the temperatures of the deep ocean. ... ‘These findings increase the impetus for understanding the causes of the Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age as a way for better understanding modern warming trends.’
Developing accurate climate models is going become harder and harder as they continue to fudge the data. It's got to rough trying to actually do good science these days, while trying to not step on the wrong toes.
I don’t understand why they’re so fixated on the “current warming trend”.
Some folks say another ice age is coming. That’s a load of crap. We’re millions of years from another ice age. See, we are currently IN an ice age. The Quaternary began about 2.6 million years ago, and continues to present day. We are in a relatively short interglacial period of that age. All of recorded history, our entire civilization, occurred during that geological eye blink. It’s going to get cold again, folks. The ice age is far from over. And co2 levels have historically not made one damn bit of difference as to when glaciation returns.
Sifo, my ancestors and their relatives were directly affected by Climate Change. And as a history tech nut, I've read the sagas passed down about the Viking Exploration Age, as told by the traders and explorers. And the stories from the raided, in Ireland.
Better, I've dressed in the clothing and camped in the tents, Built the defenses, small scale, just 80 feet of stockade, with a single gate flanked by towers. With a ballista. ( real, working )
It's why the claims of warming bringing storms clued me to the lies. It has been the opposite for every age I've studied.

It is funny that the alarmists seem to claim that we live at a magical global temperature (if there is such a thing) where slightly warmer or colder means TEOTWAWKI. History simply tells us otherwise. Colder suck big time. Warmer, not so much. I find it funny that we are now finding settlements of your ancestors being uncovered by receding glaciers. Clearly it was warmer when they lived there. Our revised temperature history says it wasn't. Reminds me of a saying... When you are trying to figure out what a bird is, but it just doesn't match your bird book, believe the bird. There are countless verifiable stories in history that tell a different story than our official temperature record. It simply doesn't pass the smell test.
No previous civilizations survived the last Ice Age. There could be ruins buried in the equator regions, under the sand or lost in jungle, They would be way older than Aztec or Egypt.
Indian claims of older civilizations, cycles of rise and fall, have little physical evidence. All the known temples and city ruins are more recent, but dates run into political pressure. Pity there was no archeology types with Cortez, or in Peru.
After the wave of European conquest, the natives in the "colonies" lost the secrets of the building of megalithic architecture. It's hard to tell if the builders were 2 or 8 generations before colonization, was grandad a great builder? Or a squater in the ruins?
Egocentric er, Eurocentric scholars assume their invasions uplifted squalid degenerates crouching in the ruins of ancient glory. Never mind THEY had no idea how to build Machu Pichu, or, to be honest, a gothic cathedral they they attended in school.
Who the squalid degenerates are is a moving target, eh? Roman built roads are still in use while sections of highway built by modern man disintegrate as we watch.
And there's a 6000 year myth invented by some people that did math on a multiply translated holy book, and a WAG equation on heat loss by a famous scientist before the discovery of radioactive decay heat.
But even if a temple in Kasmir is 12,000, not 4,000 years old, it's still too new to be from Before the Ice.
So we just keep looking at multispectral satellite images, for clues, and wonder.
Many of those same folks who believe that the world is 6,000 years old also believe that the (only) ice age occurred shortly after Noah's flood and was caused by the massive increase in vulcanic activity when the fountains of the great deep were broken up, as Genesis describes it. The biblical view (global flood/6k years) provides some really simple answers to geology if you're willing to consider it.
"Even if we were to kneecap ourselves with the Green Energy Plan, the world biggest emitter wouldn't follow suit. According to research by the green group CoalSwarm, China is now developing as much new coal capacity as currently exists in the US."
China may be using our money to build coal to gasoline plants. I sure would if I were them. They invested heavy in Iran, and would be happy to absorb Iran's entire output, ( they don't pay market prices, part of the deal ) except the Mullahs are using pipelines to Turkey as bargaining power.
If I was Xi, I'd be looking to avoid any disruption in supply, and Iran is very vulnerable to single point failure. A submarine launched cruise missile barrage on their main oil terminal would shut off most of the Mullah's cash, & a lot of China's oil.
Coal to oil requires over $55 a barrel prices to be profitable, but that isn't the prime motivation in China as it wasn't in 1945 Germany. Protecting fuel supply to the military is worth a lot. Ask the Luftwaffe, when they couldn't do training or send up fighters to stop the bombing.
One of the biggest debacles of WW2 took place without our knowledge in Germany. The "Bomber B" program was for a new generation of bombers using the powerful Junkers Jumo 222.
The 222 & Bomber B program blew more than a billion dollars to have zero effect on the war. More waste for less results than the V-2 program, which was incredible, but measured in results, useless. Lots of dead civilians, no military gains.
But the failure of the Bomber B program led to the He-177,
whose doubled Daimler Benz engines tendency to catch fire, and idiocy in the planning stages to be dive bomber capable, gave them an unstable airplane ( too tail heavy from reinforcements not needed ) that was so bad that on average half the planes launched on a mission returned before they left the area. Often on fire.
Then the whole fleet was grounded for lack of fuel. ( and from some sources, just as they'd worked out the worst problems )
China may be run by a God King with a bigger ego than Hillary, but unlike her, he has smart advisors and has no intention of starving his fleets of ships or planes.
Since the author validates my repeated rants on the dishonesty of, & results of, the Leftist/socialist/communist movement, ( same thing, different paint job ) I'm of course going to agree.
Look at all the useful idiots who insist that the National Socialist Worker's Party and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are not Socialist!
Consider that Satan's greatest deception is to get you to believe he doesn't exist.... Or at least that he isn't Satan.
Rules For Radicals, the Bible for communist agitators, is dedicated to Lucifer, the first Rebel.
And every effort is made to silence, condemn as heretics, traitors to the People, any resistance to the Revolution.
The Pope calls for my excommunication. Congressmen call for my murder by mobs, others by nuclear fire. Antifa calls for my murder by mob. Obedient Islamists, my death by fire.
Heck, if I declared my identity as a bisexual,2nd amendment supporter! the radical trans balkanization movement would demand to help the radical Muslims throw me off a building. While the media posted my address so that thieves would race the N.Y. State police to rob my unguarded home.
And that's the optimistic version, ignoring Social Media.
Closest that North & magnetic North have been in my life. Standing on the Pole was a low level bucket list item now unattainable. Maybe I can combine a trip to the Pole & visit the Cosmodrome someday.
Just a few weeks ago, I questioned how long before they "adjust" the sea level data like they have the temperature data. It seems we have proof of it being done already. This video address exactly that at about the 4:20 mark.
Two houses down from me, the farm had a windmill, the cute, expanding funnel type that looks like a flower, with a shrouded prop. Then, it was gone.
So I pedaled over and asked. The tax incentives were over, the power produced small, and the maintenance cost was rising for no advantage other than stopping the damn squeaking. So he sold it to another farmer, so he could get the tax credit. My neighbor made out fine. He put a picnic table on the old windmill base.
The community solar panels in the woods down the road are covered in snow.
Don't worry Patrick, the next big thing in natural energy is harnessing energy from ocean waves. I've watched a few videos, I think for a few thousand dollars in equipment I could reliably power a single LED light. Except for on days without waves.
"It’s a development that would have delighted Darwin.
African elephants are losing their tusks in an astonishing example of evolution by natural selection which protects them against ivory poachers."
That's not EVOLUTION, you idiots.
The loss of genetic code is... a LOSS... not a gain. That's de-evolution, not evolution. They're not sprouting wings or feathers or new organs or new appendages.
Natural selection from traits that already exist is the opposite of "evolution". Natural selection is fact and can be observed in the modern world. "Evolution" has never been observed. Some would even argue that that's truly scientific. But saying so makes me a right-wing conspiracy theorist who doesn't believe in "science".
If these elephants suddenly (or even slowly over a million years) develop the ability to fly, give me a call and we'll discuss the plausibility of evolution. The same for if they develop opposing thumbs or multi-lense eyeballs or additional stomachs or wings. THAT would be evolution.
Will it be evolution when we kill all the elephants with tusks, and there won't be any more? The definition of "evolution" is a bit vague.
The natural selection part is an observation. We see it happened, and can see it happening a little bit, but observation, just us existing, makes it hard to say that all selection is natural.
Breeding, though, unnatural selection, that's pretty obvious when you look at what we've done to Wolves. Cattle too. and..... every critter we cultivate. And most of the plants, too.
Wheat is a hybrid of IIRC 6 different grasses, bred by Egyptian women long ago.
And losing code? That's happened to us, too. Most of us have sparse body hair, compared to a Gorilla.
There is a solid argument that evolution stops when intelligence messes with it. But that might just be ego, and the very short time we've played with the ideas.
