https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/12/21/debb ie-wasserman-schultz-we-stand-against-arming-teach ers-self-defense/ Face it, Debbie Wasserman test stands against anyone except her bodyguards and the Jack booted thugs sent to kick your door down to be allowed to have a weapon. Criminals and rampage murderers of course, aren't a problem for the elite. |

What wasserman-shits is missing is, it's not a matter of MAKING teachers arm themselves. Its ALLOWING it, if the teacher so chooses. But of course that's not enough control, for a Dem. Can't go letting people choose anything, it must be a decree by the Party in order for it to be acceptable. Amd the Dems certainly won't decree for MORE guns... |

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/12/23/demo crats-at-war-with-century-old-firearm-technology/ Simply, after more than a hundred years, suddenly, you aren't going to be trusted with technology. Better give up electric lights, too. ( hold it, they already banned incandescent bulbs! ) Or more simply, they lie to steal your rights. Historically, that means Jack booted thugs kicking in doors to arrest undesirables. As a deplorable, that concerns me. |

That's the primary dogma of Marxism. Satanists consider that sinful. The agenda is to erase the Constitution and rule as Masters. ( odd how that attitude has shaped the Democrat Party since well before the Civil War ) |

As a change from doom gloom and despair, I've been watching Forgotten Weapons/InRange's series of historical & technical videos. I find I'm fascinated by the How a mechanical gizmo works, and ones powered by explosions are really interesting . ( Ted the Tool Man Taylor grunt! ) The Wwsd series is a modernization effort of the AR platform. Too complex to explain, watch it if you are interested. It's cool. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vI5NPiicXjE The bad news, I can't have one in this State. And trying to rules game one create an expensive toy that doesn't work as intended, and is a waste of money and time. Bummer. They have another series, ongoing, about lever guns, "what if they adopted the Henry & Winchester rifles, post Civil War?" Starting on Forgotten Weapons as a technical & historical reference, from the 1860 Henry to the 1895 Winchester. Then, speculation, testing, and hilariously, videos that are "boot camp training films" or tech rep sales shorts, briefing troops on their rifles. Lever guns haven't been banned yet, here. So looking at the available guns, I've got pistol caliber, .38 to .44 Magnum ( and bigger ) rifle caliber, .30-30 & .35 Or .444 & .45-70. I want a hypocritical lever action home defence "tactical" gun. I mean hypothetical. Maybe. One solution is to embrace the .30-30, build a Marlin with optics in stainless, and accessorize. That gives me a solid 400 yard capability ( more for YOU, sure ) performance and kick higher than a 7.62 x 39, but under the .30-06. The other solution is a pistol caliber gun, & the obvious choices are .357, .45 Colt, & .44 magnum. The .44 WCF just isn't chambered in many modern guns, except Cowboy Action types, and revolvers are rare in that caliber. ( other than that, I like the ballistics & recoil ) OPinions? Carry revolver compatibility leans me towards the .357. I'm not sure what the range is in a carbine. Hmm. |

Once upon a time, the 80's, I was wanting a lever action rifle/revolver combo for Missouri white tail hunting. I ended up with a Marlin 44 mag. lever action and a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 10.5" barrel and a scope. I later traded the Blackhawk in for a 7.5" version but didn't like it so I traded again for a used Redhawk. This is what I have today and I love both of these 44's. In your case wanting something to carry I'd stay away from the 44 mag. I have a shoulder holster for it but unless you're wearing a Winter coat it's pretty obvious. Having said all that, the difference in performance between the rifle and revolver is roughly 500 fps. The devastation caused by that extra umph is amazing. I've seen a 240 grain jacketed hollow point go through a 6" diameter tree and then continue through a 5" diameter tree right behind it!! The bark was bulged out on both trees. I never want to get hit with a 44 mag. period but especially out of a rifle. If the 357 mag. has a similar performance advantage then I can imagine it would be excellent out of a rifle yet a revolver would be easier to shoot and conceal. |

Got my Christmas present a few days ago. The wife OK'd my wish to Ceramakote my old frankenstein 45ACP. Bought in 1981 for $175 it's a n Interarms Silver Cup chassis that a Gunners Mate friend rebuilt for me. Phoenix Arms hooked me up, did my own tear-down and re-build. Sure is purty now!!

OPinions? I have one of these in .357. Beautiful rifle. https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/henry-big-boy-stee l/ The companion gun is a Ruger .357 Blackhawk. I would say reasonable useful range is 50-75 yards. G |

Get the carbine with 16.5" barrel for optimal bullet speed. 125 to 140 grain bullets will be near 2000 fps out of a 16 inch barrel with factory loading in .357 magnum. 110 and 158 grain bullets will be near 250 fps slower. Those speeds are plenty to effectively shoot out past 100 yards. 7.5" should be at 1500 to 1800 fps. Should be easy enough to hit a man size silhouette with the Blackhawk at 100 yards. There is not any great advantage to trying to push the .357 through more than 16.5" of barrel. The amount of powder in the .357 case doesn't have much energy left to transfer beyond that. |

Nice Interarms. The .44 in a N or L frame is a bit hard to hide on my frame.. spherical. That gives the edge to the .357 for concealed carry. The fast burn factory loads for short barrels don't get as much boost out of a carbine, but still some. The slow burn loads for a rifle make a giant fireball in a snubby, and compromise loads are just that. So it goes. I'll certainly put on optic on it, depending on model. I like Scout scopes, within a reasonable range. No good out to 600 But on a '92 Winchester, plenty. Marlin has just the thing. https://www.marlinfirearms.com/lever-action/model- 1894/model-1894-csbl |

Would be nice if the .45 Super cartridge would go mainstream; it has the exact same external geometry as .45 ACP just with with a beefier case thickness at base to handle roughly 50% more power, pushing a 230 gr bullet out of a 5" pistol at 1100+ FPS. Modern rifles designed for other magnum loads handle it fine. It's hard on pistols, but good quality 1911's fitted with a beefier recoil spring handle it well; add to the stouter recoil Spring a barrel with a fully supportive chamber and the Glock 21 does too. https://www.underwoodammo.com/collections/handgun- ammo/cartridge_45-super |

There is not any great advantage to trying to push the .357 through more than 16.5" of barrel. While that may be true for some loads, the advantage of the rifle length barrel is three extra rounds in the magazine. That could be useful in a home defense situation. G |

I'll certainly put on optic on it, depending on model. The Henry is designed to mount a Weaver rail and the scope of your choice. Tru Glo also makes some nice sights to replace the semi-buckhorn sights. G |

In home defense with the energy of a .357 magnum, I will stick with the AR 11.5" barreled pistol with 30 round magazines. I'll see your 3 extra and raise you 27. A carbine will turn in the hallway much easier. Rifles work better outside. |

Ourdee, you should know better than to take me seriously! I do use Blue Dot in my .357's along with a 158 grain Hornady hollow point. I shoot them out of a Ruger Security Six with a 4" barrel. If the bullet doesn't kill them they will die from being on fire! They would definitely work better out of a longer barrel but it is fun to shoot! |

The AR pistol, rifle, or carbine is not an option for me. Semi auto anything can only be loaded with 7 rounds or you are a felon & a terrorist. I'm "allowed" a Garand! Not optimum for a hallway & .30-06 is over everything for home defense. I like the Henry but it lacks the King's patent loading gate. That's roughly the difference between a Colt SAA, & a S&W Schofield in loading speed/situational awareness loss. I can shoot a SAA ( or Ruger S&W, single action, etc ) plenty fast enough for defensive purposes. A short barreled version with bird's head grips even conceals reasonably well for me. But reloading is glacial, and many hours of practice are needed to do so while maintaining situational awareness. That's true for break action & side swing revolvers too, but to a lesser degree. Not a LOT lesser, I admit. I favor moon clips for guns where that option is available, but mostly use speed strips, (2 rounds at a time ) because they are much easier to carry hidden than a speed loader. Compromises! |

So, any carry-load preference for 9mm? I'm leaning towards Hornady, but figured I'd ask here to see if ...well, to see if I could turn this into a tire or oil thread! |

I was wondering how messed up Bluedot would be if you tried to load it hot. The load I use came from either a sierra or hornady reloading manual from the 80's so it's not too hot. When I get back into it I need to update my manuals, there's a lot of new powders I've never heard of. I'm still using IMR 3031 in my 223's and it's a pain to work with but they are compression loads and make my mini 14 very accurate! Rabuell, there are quite a few YouTube videos showing penetration of many different rounds. Seeing the wound channel along with depth was eye opening. I don't remember the winners but the videos are good to see. |

any carry-load preference for 9mmAmmo that cycles well in your pistol. I have a bias for Hornady. I like it. I like ball ammo. Lots of people don't. For me it goes in, goes bang, goes out, and repeats. Hollow points are great for defense if they cycle in your arm and you can put them on target. About all I have for you is what you already know. |
