I know we have some flat track fans on this site. I believe Crusty is their ringleader. I hope to see him at a race or two this coming year. I've only been to one flat track race in my life and it wasn't all that great. I blame the venue. It was a WV stock car track and the turns were banked. (Is it still flat track if the track isn't flat?) Lots of speed, but not much sideways. I like sideways. Having said that, are there any fans of Speedway racing on here. I don't follow it but I sure enjoy watching a youtube video from time to time. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's basically a bicycle with a 500cc engine. I'm sure they have other classes, but 500 is what I see the most of. Its almost all sideways all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C8XSntVzwo |

I went to the AMA finals a few years ago at Pomona and enjoyed it very much, I'm visiting SoCal next week but it doesn't look like there's much in the way of Motorsports going on....unless anyone knows differently |

Yea, speedway is flat tracks brother by a different mother. 4 riders, 4 laps, have at it. Ride a series of heats to get to the final. Being as it is SoCal, might try googling something along the lines of SoCal speedway racing, or look for a schedule for the Orange County Speedway. Or is it Fairgrounds? They MAY run stuff all year. Hope this helps, Dave |

I went to speedway racing in Bakersfield around 1980. I remember watching Billy Gray (Bud from Father Knows Best) tearing it up back then. Good family fun. |
