Mark, that thing is just kewl! "California Sidecar"? Looks like a Hannigan, FWIW.
More pics, of the sidecar interior and for F's sake some action shots!! One of my fave times at TWoS was watching Glitch monkey around. I once had two good friends, both old and now both passed on, who had a FLTC sidehack that they'd ride to Texas and back, with their cat and "mama" in the sidecar. Cat would walk on a leash at rest stops.
Windscreen should have a couple inches of adjustment - are there two levers at the base, facing the rider? One on each side? Unlatch them then wiggle the screen up... To re-lower it, unlatch and pull ALL the way up, and it'll release a catch so you can wiggle it back down into the fairing.
Your hack looks a lot easier to get into. Mine is a pain to get in and out! My pup took a short ride from the yard to the garage and it looked like was having fun.
and the bad part about buying a new to me Motorcycle... LED Headlight and markers are on order
Wolfridgerider, I looked for about a year specifically for a sidecar for my height challenged basset. Pismo dog loves it, I can not start this bike without him howling to go for a ride. I start the Buell and he could care less. Fun for both of us.
Took Barkley for his first ride last night. It was pretty cold so I put his coat and doggles on. We went for about a two mile ride. At one point I thought he jumped out... but he crammed himself into the very front end of the hack.... damn near gave me a heart attack. My wife loves that little guy... If something happened to him, she would be devastated. I was going to ride to work with him today but it dropped done to the low 40's last night and he was shaking like a leaf when we went out for our morning routine.
I had a Harley customer with a rat...er, lap-dog who rode with him. He'd put an eye bolt in the front-center floor of his tour pak and had made a short leash for the dog, that would let him sit straight up while clipped to that eye bolt, but wouldn't let him do anything that could turn into "exiting the vehicle".
I have a leash designed to plug into a seat belt bolted to the floor. Its pretty much the same thing you described. But when I didn't see him, I about crapped myself. Thought he might have broke it or worked his way out of his harness.
Thanks M2x2! We’ve got a 120 lb boerboel who loves to hang her head out the window and let the slobber fly, so my dream set up would be a late 2000’s dyna sglide with a hack. I don’t know if I’ll get to make it happen but I have to know what to shoot for and both you and wolf have shown the perfect reason to get a sidecar.
For years I've thought about putting together a sidecar hack for touring. My thought is to make a long enough floor that I could park outside a motorcycle dealership and stealth camp in it. I want enough electric battery storage to run a fan, computer, CPAP, and electric blanket. I would also like to install a 5 gallon auxiliary tank. Icing on the cake would be the ability to quickly detach the bike for 2 wheel riding.
