My Grandpa's Apache had a floor starter, miss those too. My '48 Indian had spark on the left grip and throttle on the right, I really miss that... Z |

My Dad had a '52 Nash that had a floor starter that was pressed by a tab on the side of the clutch pedal, so he had to not press too hard while shifting. I never drove that, but I have a vague memory that our '55 Pontiac that I did drive had a normal floor starter switch, but maybe not. |

Hey . . don't make fun of floor mounted high beam switches . . . my car has one. It's a bit disconcerting as it's precisely where the dead pedal is in the S5. |

My 1978 Firebird had one when I was a kid. Loved that car. |

Not poking fun...I LOVE the foot switch. My Satellite has one, and I've honestly considered a rewire in my truck to add one! |

Had a friend that claims he accidentally hit the foot switch right as a cop came by. He got pulled over and had some explaining to do. Was let off with a stern warning. |

Back in the day I swapped my Norton Commando for an early Datsun 240Z (just for two weeks). It was the first car I had ever seen with the high beam switch on the stalk. The entire time I drove that car I could not figure out how to turn the high beams on! It has lousy lights but was a fun little car. I like the floor switch much better even today except for times when you might have the clutch pedal pushed in and want to switch beams. |

My ATS has auto dimmer high beams. They seem to work great except they don't catch lights around corners and only dim when the lights are visible, which is too late. |

" I like the floor switch much better even today except for times when you might have the clutch pedal pushed in and want to switch beams." OMG yes! I learned to drive in a '68 Camaro with a 3 on the tree. I remember sitting at a traffic light, trying to dim my headlights. I ended up side stepping the clutch and lurching into traffic and stalling it. Awesome. Thank God they were able to stop. |

My Grand Cherokee has auto-dim high beams as well. Living out here in the sticks, I can drive a mountain road and a road sign will bounce enough light to make it think it's oncoming traffic, and dim the lights. I've disabled that feature. |
