What brands have people had good luck with? Disclaimer: I have made a living in, and taught at a college level, stage/concert lighting and color theory classes. I know there's more to a bulb than "bright" (or lumens, in current terms). The issue I've had with LEDs versus HID's is light source placement in relation to the reflector - HID's are more accurate; LEDs, while potentially bright, don't put light in the right place for the reflector - and by result, not in the right place for light downrange. My reason for asking, my HID low in the Ulysses has started cutting out when I start the bike. Pain in the ass. Rather than playing musical ballasts ad nauseum, I'd rather just upgrade to a known-quality-LED H7 bulb. The other reason is, I hit a deer earlier this season and want as much light downrange - USABLE light - as I can get. Reliably, without overloading the charging system or the headlight reflector. And if I find something I like in H7 for the Ulysses...I'm sure it'll find its way into the 1125CR as well. And yes, I have aux lights on the Uly - toggled to the high beam. But I've been looking at the dual-brightness lights...any thoughts or experience with those? |

This is the one they sell now. It has 4800 lumen. The old style I use have 4000 lumen. Focus and cut off are not as crisp as OEM. I aim them a little high. I've only been flashed once. A quick 8000 lumen flash to pass changed their minds. They do throw a lot of light down range. https://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/48-Platinum -H7-LED-Headlight-Bulb_p_86.html |

I am also interested in upgrading the lights on my Ulysses. I have the factory lights with PIAA lamps now and they are essentially worthless. I have HIDs in the Audi, Jeep, Subaru and Porsche and LED in the Ford pickups. The LED are lightyears (pardon the pun) ahead in terms of throwing LOTS of light down the road. I'd light something for the Ulysses that allows me to drive the very remote backroads around Woodstock at over 10mph and yet doesn't challenge the electrical system. |

That's what I'm hoping to do as well - and my recent deer strike only makes night riding even more nervewracking for me now. My only thought is, maybe the reflector design just won't let us have good light out of the XB headlights. I'm considering changing the whole assembly, for a pair of new design, LED-from-the-start 4" lights like we have on a lot of side-by-sides now at work... |

Installed some Amazon LEDs in my brothers Ulysses went from trying to light the road with a candle to being better than the SX with the driving lamps on. Installing ignites on the Ulysses next that should be really impressive |

Are Rigid Ignite LEDs what you are talking about? |

Yeah, I installed a pair on the SX with impressive results. Uly stock headlights border on useless so LED bulb upgrade plus the rigids should be great |

Which Ignites did you use? |
